    Question Wrist ligament recurring injury

    Hi everyone,

In August 2009 I sprained my wrist quite badly. It was very painful for a few weeks before I got a doctors appointment, as I was waiting for it to get better on its own and it didn't. She sent me for an xray and physio. Xray showed no breaks or fractures, and the physio said it was probable that I had a tiny tear in one of the ligaments (on the top of my wrist, top being the back of my hand!) but they didn't do an mri or do anything to confirm it. The physio really helped, along with the wrist supports and ibuprofen gel.

A couple of times since then it's sprained again, both times it's taken a couple of weeks to get better.
I've also noticed that when I'm particularly tired or stressed out, it will ache and I won't be able to use it as much (it hurts to open doors, brush my teeth, carry bags, open bottles etc). It's now hurting again, and I've done nothing to provoke it. I'm wondering if it's caused by the cold? (for those not in Scotland at the moment it's hitting a max 10deg during the day)

Does anyone know if this will just keep happening forever? I've had to change the way I do things, I can't put weight on it at all, can't carry heavy bags (does help with the shopping habit though!), and I just want to know if there's anything I can do to stop it from being so weak. I've sprained my ankle in the past and it just went down and life has carried on. How come my wrist is being so troublesome?!

Any ideas, thoughts, or medical insight would be gratefully recieved.

    Thank you x
