I understand you being scared, especially with what your mom went through. The absolute best thing and most important thing you can do at this point is to get into your doctor asap. Try VERY hard not to freak out because there are several things this could be. Could be a fluid filled cyst. Could be a benign mass. Could be an infected gland. Could be a calcium buildup. There are lots of things.Going to the doctor isn't a death sentence. Look at it as a relief because most likely you'll find out exactly what it is and be able to walk out of there with some relief. But because there is always that chance it could be something more serious, it's crucial to get in there asap and get it checked out.
There are lots of things in life it's okay to procrastinate, but this is not one of them.
