One side of my labia is completely swollen and blown up, and extremelly sore! Its red raw and stings like if anything touches it (also my urine when going to the toilet). There is a small amount of yellowish discharge on the infected area, but I can not longer wear underwear because it irritates it and if i wear tight underwear the discharge makes it stick to my pants and to remove them the pain is unbearable! I have had a screening and they said it might be herpes so have given me medication for this, but im convinced its not as there are no blisters and i have been in a stable relationship for 6 years. I have recently been on anti biotics for a water infection and wonder if it could be related to this? Please help, it wont go away!!

Lactobacillus Acidophillus - it's used as a supplement in itself, or in yogurt, pasteurized cider vinegar. You could dilute the cider with some lukewarm water to clean yourself. Do not use scented soap or feminine wash down there. I would also recommend you find yourself another OB-GYN for a second opinion, and a urologist to ensure you do not develop UTI on this.

Can you moderate or diminish the pain by soaking in lukewarm water? If so, this may be a way to have urination less painful and rid the surface of contamination, such as with the trace of urine left behind when wiping and tissue paper fibers. You do not want to quit urinating as much as you should because of the pain. It could cause other problems.

Is the infection in the outer labia in a place that has hair? Could it be an ingrown hair?

    Thanks for replies.

I have actually tried bathing in salt water and this has unbeilveable relief, however it dosnt last long - and the swelling does not go down. Its on one side of the inner labia so not an ingrowing hair. Its only the urine touching the swollen infected area that makes it sting - I have used a piece of plastic to hold the labia up while urinating and i have a pain free wee! I have actually had 3 doctors look at it and neither can identify what it is - they tell me it looks like herpes, and im currently taking pills to treat this, but im convinced its not that! I dont get my results until friday, bu cant bare to wait until then - the pain is unbearable.

No my partner hasnt been checked but he is not showing any symptoms or anything. We have not had sex since I had the water infection, but this came about 4 days after the water infection.

this has happened to me before, or at least i think it was the same thing. i was ill and unable to take a shower/bath for a few days and this happened, its very painful, and it bothered me when i walked because my underwear would rub it. have you tried witch hazel wipes? you can get them at a pharmacy. they sting at first but help with the swelling and give you some relief. hope you feel better soon.
