Default Yeast infection or something else?

I am 24 years old and I have had a few sexual partners. I have either always used condoms, been on the pill or used both. I have been tested for STD's and so has my current partner. The sex was fine for a while but recently it started to get very painful, to the point where we couldn't continue. I would experience a sharp stabbing pain when he would try to insert his penis inside of me. I would also bleed a bit after, nothing extreme and it would stop right away. He isn't being too rough and it's not due to lack of wetness/lube.

I have heard that sometimes a yeast infection or other infections can cause this type of pain. I have also noticed that my discharge has been a little thicker than normal with almost a "yeasty" type smell. I've had the tiniest bit of burning and itching every so often but not enough to make me think it was a yeast infection. I spoke to a few people that have had them and they said it gets veryyy itchy and uncomfortable.

This has been going on for weeks now and my reason for not seeing a doctor when it started was because I've recently moved to Montreal but I am still using my Ontario health card. They want to charge a ridiculous fee just for seeing a doctor. I know I need to see one, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? I'm starting to get a bit worried...

It very well could be a yeast infection, especially if you have a thick like, yeasty discharge.

Can you try some Monistat or something until you can get into the Dr?

Me and my boyfriend attempted getting one of those in me, with no success haha. I've never used tampons and I almost pass out during pap smears. I'm a wuss, I know. My vagina muscles tighten up so it just wasn't going to happen. I've heard those don't really work anyways. I have been trying some all natural remedies like yogurt, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar and garlic. It just hasn't seemed to be clearing up. I want this pain during sex to be over with!

Well.... Something to take into consideration... Yeast infections CAN be passed back and forth between the two of you, so he may need to be treated as well (he can apply the Monistat cream on his penis thought). Until the two of you can get in, use condoms to prevent the back and forth.

Yeah, they can have a penile yeast infection without any symptoms... The reason it can get passed back and forth without any indication is the man very rarely ever realizes he has it.

Wow, I didn't even know that. Thanks for the advice. Do I need to buy a 7 day monistat/canesten kit for him or can I use a one day?

If I remember right, the 1 day and 3 day, use an ovule, not the cream. The anti itch cream comes with it, but that is not the same as the treatment cream. The 7 day Monistat uses the treatment cream and not the ovule. So, you will want the 7 day and you should probably use the 7 day too if you are having problems inserting the ovule.

Well I'm going to try and get in to see a doctor today to get swabbed to make sure it's a yeast infection before I buy anything. I don't want to spend over $40 if it turns out that's not even what I have. I'm hoping it is though, the other alternatives seem serious..

Definitely a good idea. Those boxes of Monistat are not cheap.
