Get hydrated and quit worrying so much darlin'.
Hi, again, everyone.
I came back to University this past Sunday, 16 Jan. Since returning from being home, I have been eating healthy, organic foods. I have not touched a crisp bag or a chocolate since Sunday (I almost bought a Cadbury creme egg, but I declined it. I beat my weakness, yay!).
However, last night while shopping for cheap, but wearable sneakers, I felt a sharp, needle-like pain in the very top of my left breast. It was as if someone was ramming a needle from my under arm to my sternum--one solid line of pain. Okay, OW, was my initial reaction, then I didn't think much of it--until it happened again. And again. When I got to work it was a constant sting. I felt my pinkie go numb and my shoulder begin to ache like nobody's business. This started me in on a panic attack, which made my skin tingle all over.
One of my flatmates is an EMT, and she came down with another girl (who was bringing me a textbook), and checked my pulse. She said it was normal, strong, and steady. The pain, however, was still there. When I rubbed at it (about an inch to an inch and a half under my collarbone), I felt a lump. It moved, and it created the exact same stinging sensation. It made my EMT-friend think it was muscular. I thought it could be that or a nerve bundle of some sort.
At about 6 this morning, I felt the same stinging pain, but in my knee. And then I had pain in my shoulder, and my forearm a little later. Now, my entire left shoulder is hurting quite substantially and my hand hurts a little bit, as well.
Now, while I have been eating healthier food, I've been remiss in drinking water. I drink cranberry juice daily (not too much), as well as Naked Juice's Green machine smoothie. Mostly, I have trouble drinking water due to the untidiness of a few flatmates, which makes using a glass nigh on impossible sometimes.
I'm going to be purchasing a water bottle today to alleviate that problem, but I'm wondering what could be causing all these spasms. Is it lack of water? Or could it be junk food withdrawals? My last week at home food-wise involved a bag of spicy doritos, water, and jell-o gelatin. That's about it; mum doesn't grocery shop much anymore.
I was also wondering if people here have had similar pains before, so that I know I'm not alone. Because I rubbed at that tender spot so much, it hurts now (producing the same sting) to even brush my fingers over it!
Trying to get a hold of myself is really tough! But I'll keep trying.

I'm not terribly worried about it, it just tweaked me out. ^_^
I have been a bit better about my hypochondria, and I'm starting up work again with my uni therapist very soon!2011 is the year I get over it!

Your condition of hypochondriasis will exasperate anything you have into something grander than it usually is. A twitch can go from a twitch to a perceived pain just by saying "I think it hurts". Your EMT friend would have caught any issues when she was with you but your bp and heart rate were fine. Muscle twitches happen a lot in the body, some are not very noticeable some are irritating like the twitch in the eyelid people get from time to time. If you rub something for long enough and hard enough it is going to become overly sensitive and irritated causing the pain or twitch anytime you touch it. I get that way often with my leg, if I scratch it just to get rid of an itch sometimes I will feel like my leg is going numb and hurting awhile later for no reason. Rub any part of your body and you are likely to find something that feels like a bump, lump, nodule etc. It does not mean it is something bad it is often just a nerve mass or muscle mass.
Dehydration can cause a multitude of problems, muscle twitches spasms soreness redness almost anything. A strained muscle can hurt and sting big time, and those can happen without warning if you turn your head in a funny way without noticing it. From there you can get a sore muscle and twitches that seem to appear from nowhere when really it is easily explained by the twisted muscle. Along with that cramping can be caused by lack of calcium in the diet, that off and on spams of the muscle can be painful I get them in my feet a lot and it just feels like everything is collapsing in on itself and I literally cannot walk or stand it hurts so much. Junk food can cause many many problems as well. Stopping junk food for a week or two does not mean you are healthy, you need to avoid that stuff altogether to be healthy. Juice is a good choice if it is pure juices and none of those fancy brand names that are loaded with extra sugar.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
You have to immediately increase your intake of water. I, too was having these very excruciating pains in my colon area. The pain went on for about 3 hours. Just out of the blue I went and got some water. Immediately the pains stopped. You have to get the water in.
