I get this feeling that i am going to faint sometimes it starts off with really bad shaking and feeling sick and then I go all light headed as if I'm going to faint it gets that bad that i've got too lie down no matter where I am sometimes I get a headache with it aswell, I know I'm not hungry as it happens when I've eaten and I'm not dehydrated as I always drink plenty of fluids, also I've been having left sided pain for 3 months now the doctor first thought it was a kidney infection and put me on antibiotics which didn't work he then put me on tablets for a urinary tract infection and pelvic immflamitory disease but i'm still getting the same pains and feelings I would also like to add that I urinate often aswell and I get thirsty easily. thanx for any advice xx

Oh wow... That sounds like the onset of diabetes type I... Frequent urination, excessive thirst, shakes and dizziness all together are some pretty common signs of diabetes. I'd go back and talk to your Dr about getting checked for that.

Your pancreas is on your left side which supplies insulin and glucagon to the bloodstream. Glucagon is produced to raise the blood sugar level when you haven't eaten in a while and insulin is used to take up glucose into either storage or as food into the cells of the body. Like a mom feeds a baby, insulin feeds the cells. If the insulin isn't there then the cells won't be fed. From what you're saying it sounds like you're not producing enough insulin to "feed" the cells in your body causing the symptoms of hypoglycemia. The left side pain would most likely be from the pancreas trying to correct the imbalance problem.

I'm a doctor's assistant, not a doctor, so I cannot diagnose or prescribe anything but I HIGHLY recommend marching back into that office and having your urine and blood analyzed for glucose levels and possible problems with insulin production.

So go! Get thee hence to a doctor!

I agree with Tigers I think it may be diabetes or hypoglycemia (sp?) I would go to the doctor and have them run tests on you. (usually it's just a blood test after fasting). The only other thing that comes to mind would be is it possibly seizures that you are having? I don't think they would cause a pain on your left side though. If you are unable to get into the doctor for a few days (sometimes it takes awhile to get an appointment) try keeping a journal that has what you ate, what time you ate, any exercise/activities and time, when the pain in your side is present and when it goes away. A lot of times information like that can be very helpful for a doctor to make a diagnosis, help you remember things to tell or discuss with the doctor, and find patterns in your symptoms. Good luck.
