    Default Embarrassing problem

I'm a college student, and I've had the problem of having the urge to pass gas whenever my roommate is sleeping in the room with me at night often. It's interferring with my cleeping when I try to 'hold them in'. Yet, whenever I'm alone in our room, I don't have this urge. Could this be psychological somehow?

Its probably not psychological... my guess would be that you are just inherently more gassy at bedtime. Try taking a look at your diet and seeing if certain foods provoke more gas than others and try to have those foods minimially or earlier in the day... you could also try going to the bathroom before bed. Don't let it interfere with your sleep, unless your roomate is a robot, they get gas too, all humans do.. maybe play some music at night, get an airfreshner and just get some rest you've got much more important things to worry about !
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

It must be diet related, if you eat properly you should feel better when you go to bed. It can also be that you notice it when people are around, but don't think about it when you're alone, hence you think it happens when the roommate is around (I knew someone who thought like that too).

If you don't see a change and it still bothers you, you can try to 'let it out' once, see what the roommate says, and I'm sure by the 5th time you do it it won't even be anything worth mentioning anymore (the things one learns by living together)

I always gave it the "one cheek sneak" when I could. If you're sitting down, raise up on my cheek and slide toward the other (lifted) cheek enough to stretch the skin a bit and slowly test the function. Usually results in an SBD. If laying down then just pull one cheek away and slowly test the function of the SBD.

Then again you could always throw in the chips and let them fly. Just tell your roommate that you've developed a bit of gastroenteritis and have to let them fly or you'll do damage to your sigmoid colon People are a bit more understanding if you give them a sincere explanation.

My family, unfortunately, is very gassy and I find I just have to excuse myself to the other room or behind a door and let them go as quietly as I can. You may not be able to save them from the sound but at least you can save them from the smell.

What good is a wiener dog if he's not spoiled rotten?

Smelliness can be eliminated by lighting the gas with a lighter. Its amazing what you learn in college.
