I'm sorry for posting this, but it's something that really upsets me and has been on my mind a lot.
But, the other day I went to walmart I had on some Hollister shorts, and this older lady stopped my sister and asked her how old I was and my sister told her I was 18, and she told my sister,"come here let my talk to you." My sister she told that was 26, I guess she thought she was my mother at first. But anyway, my other sister that was with us, who is 24, she told me the lady said something about,"when men see your stuff they can't control themselves." And I'm like what. I mean my shorts where short but my butt wasn't hanging out at all, it just showed a lot of leg. To be honest, I wanted to curse her out. You don't approach people like that, like she's trying to raise me. And why would you say something like that? I mean Am I wrong for feeling this way? And why do older people act like rapist rape because of what a woman wears, when its usually about control and not sexual attraction?

I don't know why older women, automatically assume girls are doing something because of the clothes they wear. That's passing judgement, and it isn't true most of the time. I'm still a virgin, and went to school with girls who dress "more appropiate" as you would say, and where the biggest s I knew. Why are people constanctly looking at and worried about what younger people wear that aren't their children?

It is because of the other kids that are looking for sexual attention by wearing short clothes. Some random person does not know you but they know other kids, and those other kids may be wearing the same thing but searching for sexual attention approval. So a woman sees yet another girl in shorts and she will think 'here we go again'. It is passing judgment no doubt but that is just how things are these days. A lot of young women these days will wear things super short or tight and swing their hips around looking for sexual approval from gawking men....as soon as another girl is simply walking to 7-11 for a slurpee she will be labeled as doing the exact same flaunt even if all she was doing was wearing some new shorts and minding her own business. Do not forget that the older women that stop you grew up with clothes that were 'too revealing' if some ankle was shown. Seeing the girls these days just makes their jaws drop, it is just the way those particular women were brought up. There is nothing you can really do but just keep wearing what you want and ignoring others, if they want to wear their to the ground dress then so be it...you want to wear shorts because it may be hot out, so be it. The judgment is always going to be there as long as other girls are doing those acts and causing the attention scenes.

    I agree with ItsASecret.

And also... it's Walmart. Hardly the place to take anyone seriously.

Maybe something happened to someone close to her, daughter, grandaughter and she's on a mission to preach as a result..

    It happens you know.

Man being an Australian, I crack up over the wallmart emails sent to me, are they for real? I mean seriously?

woman....you have no idea lol. You can walk in on any random day and just shake your head. One look at that site and you just "omg seriously" lol. CG really there is nothing to worry about when you can lecture someone in the exact same store about lack of fashion sense in the most ridiculous of ways.

    LMAO

I went in there once, whilst in America a couple of years ago and didn't see anything like I see in the emails forwarded to me, so figgered clever advertising

The worse we have here? Poorer suburbs have people dressing way down, non co-ordinated in colours, like pink tracky pants blue tops, or Gothic...

    CG,

What happened to your effort about being more positive? Your threads, psots, etc. are negative, negative, negative...

You need to learn in your young life to be more like a duck and let things roll off your back (like water rolls off a duck's back).

To be blunt; You could turn it around and instead of ALWAYS being so critical, negative and unkind...walk a mile in her shoes. She probably remembers swim suits that covered your entire body...ankles to wrists to the top of your neck. She also remembers a world without television and all the sex, sex, sex that SHE sees everywhere today.

She also remembers a time when manners meant something and people addressed each other as "Sir" and "Ma'am"

So next time this happens to you, and it will unfortunately, take a deep breath and consider what life was like when that person was your age.

The world has enough negative people in it already (times ten). The world is lacking people with empathy, patience and love.

Elderly people/Senior Citizens are living libraries...go spend some time with one.

To answer your question IMO - YES you are wrong to think this way. Why would you want to curse someone out for having an opinion?

But I see that as ASUMMING. you can't assume everyone is the same, that is what really upset me.And I don't wear things like that to get attention, I wear it because I feel it looks flattering on my body. I want to learn to appreciate my body, not cover it up because a man might look, I mean men will look at girls with sweatpants. And I don't flaunt around men, because I don't like that attention, which is why I feel men don't often stare at me. And yea you are right, judgement will always be there, I don't care about what she thinks, I don't like the fact that she approached me and my sisters with the "If your mother can't raise you any better than that, then I can" attitude.
