Last night around 11:15-11:30, I put my foot down on the floor and got a very, very sharp pain at the top of my heel, close to the area of my arch. I yanked my foot up right quick and looked, but I didn't see anything in my foot at all.

Now, my two other roommates and myself had been sewing this past weekend so it really worried me that perhaps I had a needle in there, but I would have definitely seen it and therefore would have been able to pull it out. On top of that it would probably have bled around the needle.

Now here, there is no blood, no entry mark (that I can see), and so no sign of anything inside, but twelve hours later after going to bed, it still hurt to touch around the area (stung like someone was inserting something pointy in), and it hurt to stand in certain ways.

Now it doesn't hurt to walk on apparently, because I ended up walking normally from my dining hall to my apartment. There's still some discomfort upon standing in certain ways (weight on right foot towards heel of course), and of course, then the panic sets in.

What if whatever is in my got so deeply embedded that now it's going to travel up into my body and kill me? What the is in there!?

I thought of needles, and that would have been obvious and way more painful. Glass is an improbability; I don't have any glass cookware/backware/diningware.

I thought of maybe some rogue nail clipping that got away while I was cleaning--More plausible, but it would have to be a really old clipping to be that sharp.

What's going to happen? What can I do?
Trying to get a hold of myself is really tough! But I'll keep trying.

Don't panic! Freaking out and worry will only add to your concern.

    Two thoughts:

    1. Go to the local drug store and buy some Epsom salts. Find a container that can hold some water and fill it with as warm as you can stand water. Mix in about 1/2 cup per gallon of water of Epsom Salts. Soak your foot in the water/salts mixture for about 20 minutes. The warm water/salts mix may help work out whatever is in there IF anything is.

    2. Go to your college healthcare clinic and have them look thoroughly at your foot they may see something that you can't by torking your foot around.

It could be anything at this point or NOTHING at all too. The skin on the bottom of the foot is pretty thick and pretty tough so it's unlikely that anything went so far up that it can't be seen or found. As you said, there would also be blood at the point of entry.

If I were you, I'd soak it over a few days, monitor it now and then for any obvious visual changes and try to be seen at the college health clinic.

A needle is going to stick out of you, you would have seen it. That and the fact that it would not have pushed all the way in because a bone would have been hit.

There is nothing that can do that.

It is much much much more likely you just twisted a nerve and that hurts like crazy. I get it all the time. You walk, it hurts, you touch it it hurts, you move it hurts. Nerves are no fun to accidently mess around with. All that you can do is wait it off.
