Default Worried sick-did something terrible to myself....

I had been on a really strict healthy diet for over five months under supervision (seeds, nuts, veg, meat, rice) after a bad time of bladder infections, too many antibiotics etc. I had been finding the diet harder and harder as time went on and, having been prone to binge eating in the past, I found I was lapsing a bit. Last week, I got very upset with everything and went on a two day binge, eating to the point of being sick. I got back on track after it and thought everything was ok. However as last week went on, I got increasingly bad heartburn, acid reflux and abdomenal swelling. I stopped my strict diet and hardly ate anything for a day, didnt help. Ive kept my diet very bland and very digestable (soups, toast, smoothies), the heartburn and acid reflux have gone but the swelling is still there.

I did go to the doctor, told him everything, he checked my abdomen and said he could hear my gut really being active (thought my tummy itself was fine) and said it should go in a few days. He was concerned though that the swelling had not gone down with the semi fasting and the bland diet.

The other complication is that I have had no period for six months (am off the pill) and as my discomfort is all lower abdomen and not upper, the doctor was wondering if it could possibly be gyno in nature. You see, my health problems before Christmas were all to do with my periods, pain, bladder infections after my period etc and that all went once I came off my pill and my periods stopping as well.

I know I am asking you ladies the impossible but does anyone have any advice on what I may have? My gut (pun intended) tells me its my gut itself that I have messed up by what I did to myself, but a small part of me wonders about the no period and all the problems I had before Christmas clearing up once I stopped my pill.

I have had normal bowel movements over the week, no blood, no nausea, which has confused the doctor further as he was looking for those symtoms. The main symtoms I have now are a swollen abdomen, discomfort 24/7 and no appetitie.

I am beside myself with worry and confusion - I am hopefully going to see a gastro consultant next week (saw him before for a routine endoscopy) so i know i can start getting answers then. It is just I have already been through so much with my health, was feeling good and now this happens.

I dont know if I have gastritis, ibis, colitis or endometriosis, but all I do know is swelling in the abdomen is serious and I do know i have to check it out.

There are number of possibilities that come to mind. Have you been to a Urologist? Your bathroom habits can affect bladder infections as can diet and other factors.
Antibiotics, while given for the infection, can a host of other problems including yeast overgrowth and can really mess up your intestinal flora. Unless you have food allergies, the stress of feeling guilty about blowing your eating program may be a bigger problem than the bit of a binge you went on.

Are you overweight? How are your abs and pc muscles? Excess abdominal fat and poor muscle support can let things get out of place and make you more likely to get a bladder infection.
