Thread: Large red circle near groin

My son is 2 yrs old. He has a large red circle on his groin (under his bellybutton to the right towards his hip). Its not a perfect circle.. Its leaning more towards an oval. Its about 1.5 inches across. He had gotten ringworm before on his groin a year ago on the other side of his groin. I put some Campho-phenqiue on it for a day and it cleared right up. This time its different. Theres no 'ring' so I'm not sure if its actually ringworm. Its all the same color, red, and has a scaly appearance. Its not bumpy, but feels like very very dry skin. He is never scratching it, or acknowledges it, so I assume its not itchy. I've been putting on some campho-phenique but it hasnt gone away. I just put some on and he started saying 'owww boo-boo'. I think it mightve burned this time.
I'm getting worried. He's had it for about a month and a half. I had something like it on my arm, but it wasnt as big, and only lasted about 2 weeks. Mine also itched like and bugged me. He hasnt shown any signs of it bothering him though. I'm more so concerned about how big it is. Its not getting bigger or smaller.
Has anyone else had this or know what it is?

it could b a number of things. best thing to do is take him to his doctor and let him decide what it is and how to treat it.
