About 6 months ago or so, I had severe pain in the outer area of my throught. Not the lypmh nodes. I couldnt even turn my head all the way, and it hurt VERY bad to touch the area. It was maybe a week or so and I finally made a dr's appt. He touched my neck and said it was my thyroid. Put me on steriods and ran blood tests. One thing (dont remember sorry) was high in the tests. I came back a week later and they did blood tests again. Basically he told me if I didnt hear back from them, everything was back to normal. The steriods made it stop hurting, but I didnt take the full script. I read about not being around sick people etc and my boyfriend was comming down with something so I stopped. Now I noticed a few days ago my neck hurt a bit, and now this a.m. I wake up and it's back full on. It's not as severe yet as the first time. I've tryed looking all over the internet for why, but yea, not much. Im not sure if I should go back to the dr because I dont like wasting money on getting no answers. Or try a specialist? Is this even something I should be worried about?

You should not stop taking medication like that without consulting a doctor. Permanent damage can be done to the thyroid if it is not treated which will result in many health problems and weight issues in either direction depending whether your thyroid is over or under active. Many thyroid problems require life long treatment. If you have one of these conditions symptoms are going to get bad really fast without treatment. Even with temporary thyroid problems you need to continue the full course of medication until the doctor has shown through tests that your thyroid has recovered or the damage from inflammation may lead to a life long problem and taking pills forever.
