Will a doctor check your liver functions if you ask them to? And does anyone know if it is exPensive?

Yup, sometimes just a blood test will do. And it can be if you do not have medical insurance. Any test will be pricy without insurance, blood tests are not always so bad though it is when you get into scans or biopsies when things get pricy.

Ok so maybe it won't be so bad. My body seems to be metabolizing pain medications quickly. I can't figure what can be causing it

Medications are metabolized at a constant rate depending on how the medication was designed to be metabolized, in drug terms it is called a medications half life. That is if your liver is working fully. If it is not up to par then metabolism will not happen as quickly or efficiently. What could be different is your tolerance to the meds themselves. If you take a lot you will become more use to the effects of the medication at a quicker rate than say taking one or two pills once a year because of a small accident. So what is plenty of pain meds for one person, say one dose, does nothing for you. In that case you would have to talk to your doctor about dosage changes or being put on a completely new medication.

That makes alot of sense. It's gotten where pain pills last maybe 2 hrs. And muscle relaxors(sp?) don't do anything. I am just so tired of being in pain all the time.., I had another surgery b/c I thought it might help.... I'm just done

You will need to see your doctor if things are not working as good anymore.
