Is the blood bright red or dark red?
Awkward question...
But when I go "number 2" a lot of times it hurts and bleeds...sometimes I don't feel anything and see blood.
I went to the doctor and he said considering my age (17) it was probably something like hemmerhoids (I don't know the spelling)...and caused by things such as not having enough fiber or fluids...
It comes and goes randomly. I went through a very uncomfortable examination...and got a cream (which I admit I don't use as prescribed...) But could there be something else wrong? Should I be worried??
Is the blood bright red or dark red?
Bright red...which I think means it's 'fresh'??
Anyone...?? :P
The color indicates where it comes from. Dark blood means it comes from higher up in your gastrointestinal tract, bright blood means it comes from the lower portion, usually the anus, rectum, or colon.
It could be hemorrhoids, but it could also be an anal fissure, which is a small tear in the tissue of the anus. That can cause bleeding and uncomfortable bowel movements as well.
Don't be afraid to return to your doctor for further examination and consultation if you have any more concerns or other symptoms. But it would be a good start to keep an eye on your diet, make sure you drink enough fluids, get enough fiber, and use the cream as prescribed.
I got the same at your age and was told the same. It can happen when we don't eat well, don't eat enough fibers, don't drink a lot of water and so on.
Nothing to worry about, just try to improve your diet, eat healthy and regularly, so you'll avoid the pain and bleeding. It's not life-threatening
p.s. Oh, dear, I used the line "at your age" to a 17 year old young woman for the very first time. I'm getting old!![]()
Get tested for food allergies, I have ceiliac disease, and a symptom is bleeding while you poo.
Thank you for the help!![]()
