Here is my delima, I recently started dating this girl and while dating her (have had sex) i had blood work done and it showed i had hsv1... i told her that i had it...(a wonderful talk that was...) and had her go get blood work done. It didnt show up that she had it but she found out she has HVP... It was shocking enough to find out i had hsv1... now i find out she has hvp.. what do i do? im going this week to check and see if i contracted it from her. If i dont have hvp (which i dont want...) what should i do?

Note: i know if i dont want it then tell her and leave her... Just need some opinions and advice. And Im pretty sure she doesnt have hsv1 from me either.

HVP can lay dormant for years and years, and it can although, most cases not, be passed to an infant at birth by the Mother.

It's good that she established this as the risks of cervical cancer are higher and so, now she can be monitored annually.

I note from your post, that you have HSV1 was annoyed at how she handled that, (fear) but accepted it. Now you establish she has a simular thing, in a different area and are contemplating leaving her... How does that work?

You both have something which is really, un-fortunately very common to obtain... If you have feelings for her, as she obviously does for you or else she would have walked herself, then speak to your Doctor when you go back with regards to the best way to stay safe, during sexual intercourse. I don't believe a condom is totally safe...

"contemplating leaving her... How does that work? " Im thinking about it because for one if the blood tests show we both didnt "swap" what we have to eachother then for health reasons we shouldnt be together. Having one std is hard enough but 2? Especially since neither new we had what we had untill its too late. Im not trying to be inconsiderate about her or anything its just im scared about it seeing how i just found out recently i got hsv1 genital and the thought of willingly contracting hvp which has cancerous abilities (3 uncles have died from cancer) the thought is overwelming. I care for this women very much mind you and just need some perspective. we have only been dating for a few months also if that help anything.

Note: I also wasn't annoyed at how she handled it. That was the 1st person I told and didnt know what to expect. It was alot of anxiety from my part cause I didnt know how to tell someone you have just started dating...mind you she didnt know at the time she had hvp.

Look at the statistics of hvp, it's huge and honestly, I know that you have fear due to deaths in your family but cancer can be bought on through so many genetic deceases passed on in the family, through stress, through all the chemicals we put in or on our body, you can not avoid it, if it's going to happen.

Leaving her would be sending a signal of, well I felt trust enough in you, you were the first person I told, because you were the first person I really cared about (by the way if its on your genitals you really should tell every girl, before having sex without a condom, it's their choice too you know whether they want to contract a virus), and you accepted it..Wow, how lucky am I to find someone whom loves me enough to accept that.

Now, that you have a common virus yourself, (same problem in a way) seeya, I don't want that too.

There are several levels of HVP, please go through the process with her, imagine her fear when she found that out? You have in my opinion only read up on the "Cancer" part and again, I do understand that fear but does that outway, the next woman and the one after that who you marry and spend 5 years together and she gets a Pap Smear and finds out she has it? Then what will you do?
