for the past three weeks or so i've had the most horrid itchy scalp i have ever experienced in my life. i tried using head & shoulders shampoo since that has helped in the past but it did no good. so i bought the neutrogena t-gel shampoo thinking it would help since it has a stronger formula, but there was very little difference. finally i went to my local pharmacy and asked them what they recommend & they told me to try using scalpacin. the packaging says to use it whenever i'm itchy and i ended up going through an entire bottle in one day. i can't afford to spend $7 a day on something that isn't guarenteed to take the itching away, especially since i'm not making much money at this time. i tried to make a doctor's appointment but got denied bc i'm in the middle of switching my insurance & my current insurance company will not pay for my visit so i'm going to have to wait a couple more weeks to see a doctor. can anyone recommend ANYTHING at all that will help take this itchiness away? i am flaking, but not very much it's just extremely itchy and uncomfortable & it doesn't help i have to wear a hat at work so when i sweat underneath it, it makes it feel 10 x's worse. anything will help!

Using an Aloe-Vera gel or chamomile tea in the same manner also causes a cooling effect and helps remove itchiness.

But My Gram used to to make up a Shampoo of Mayonnaise, yep good old Fashioned Mayo, Egg yolks, Cooking Oil, lemon Juice. Whipped it up in a bowl, had us put it on, comb it thru , sit 10-20 minutes to wait for our bath. ( 50's and 60's here ) Wash it out, ( lots of Water ) and then rinse with a Vinegar and Bay leaf or Rosemary added to the water .
