Hi everyone, I hope this is the right section to post this in... So, here goes.. a little background first..

My wife and I just had our 3rd son, born on Oct. 7th (all 3 natural births), the morning after his birth, my wife had a tubal ligation performed.. So, everything has been fine with her since then..up until she began her first cycle after the birth, about 2 weeks ago.

During that week, she experienced moderate to heavy bleeding (something her Dr. told her explained as "normal" from the ligation). So, after about 6 days, she had stopped bleeding..

In the last 5-6 days though, she has been experiencing pretty severe lower-right back pain, which we assumed was due to the fact that she has a fractured vertebrae, and degenerative disc disease.. however, she just informed me today that when she has been urinating over the past few days, she has been showing bright red blood, almost mucusy, on the toilet paper.. it's not showing up every time, but quite often... Also, I have noticed that she has been urinating a LOT more than usual, so I (having an emergency medicine background... paramedic) start thinking, ok... possibly a UTI of the kidney? The thing that's throwing me though, is she isn't experiencing any discomfort during urination..

I told her she needs to contact her GYN tomorrow morning, but can someone maybe help out a concerned husband here to get some sleep tonight? Thanks for your time reading this.

*EDIT* Also, I forgot to add, she stated that she has been wearing a pad in case she would start spotting, and she said whenever anything does show up, it is brown in color, which to me is 'old blood'... not sure if this will make a difference in opinions of what it could be, but figured I'd include all details.

Thank you for joining and Welcome to WH.

We do really appreciate the men that are here and concerned about Women's Health.

It does not say where you are from and you being a Parametric or even a frs like me ..
You can at least get some answers here.

But if she is not in Pain.. I'd call the DR (hers) and then see if you can have her seen if the situation continues .

Im not a doctor, but in my opinion...go in!! I was experiencing somthing quite similar, and was diagnosed with kidney stones with a mild infection. I thought it was back pain at first...and it sucked. She definitely needs to go in.

best of luck to you! Ill keep her in my prayers.

Ahh...so nice to see a hubby so genuinely concerned for his wifes health. I think you're right that she needs to go in, but it could definitely be a kidney infection and still not cause her pain during urination. A bladder infection causes discomfort during urination because they make the bladder have spasms. Either one, as I'm sure you know, can be very serious if untreated.

Poor gal...sounds like her body has been through the ringer and back lately. I'm sure you're giving her lots of TLC.
