Yeah ummm if it was dark yellow it is not a problem. If it is brown like obvious brown you may have a problem with your kidneys or liver. Any pain associated with your abdomen or sides? Is the urine clear or cloudy? If it was a light brown it can actually be due to the foods you eat like blackberries or beets.

Have you taken any prescription medications for a UTI recently?

It was just...super brown. I have zero pain. I passed my kidney stones in the first week of January. Im not on any medication right now. I was thinking maybe Vitamin C? or could it be all the veggies Ive eaten? it seems to have stopped now.

I was just super shocked to see my urine...clear and brown. Freaked me right out!!

With vitamin C if you have too much through multivitamins, diet, and extra supplements it can cause your urine to turn a deep orange almost brown. The thing to watch for is constant discoloration of urine or sudden onset of abdominal or kidney pains, that is more of a sign of problems. If it was a short lived thing it is more likely due to a food you ate. Certain food colorings and dyes can also change the color of urine.

whew. I love you secret. I was so freaked out. Ive been trying to up my Vitamin C intake due to a cold Ive caught...guess Ive had too much?

I reallllly try to avoid artifcial colorings and dyes. They never really agree with me. Ive also been eating like a rabbit since I found out about the kidney stones. That was some intense pain, and I promised myself "NEVER again". So I eat a lot of salad, tomatos, celery, carrots...anything that is a veggie basically. But I was really bad and had chinese food the other day, which only caused a horrendous gut ache, followed by my body rejecting the greasy stuff.

No more greasy food or that carp for me. I gotta stay healthy to avoid scary brown pee. lol

Once again Secret, Thank you. Youve put my mind at ease, <3

Increasing vitamin c for a cold is one of those pseudoscience ideas that does not actually work. The common cold is a virus and it ain't going anywhere until it says so. Taking more vitamin c just because merely saturates the body with it-there is a cap limit on how much the body can actually hold, past that point it will just be flushed out. Studies will tell you that if you take a megadose (and this is in the grams amount not the daily mg recommended amount) as an athlete you can reduce the time your body has a cold but only if you are an athlete, the average Joe will experience the placebo effect. And megadose means far past saturation. If vitamin c has an effect it may be on the duration of the cold and not at all on the actual severity of symptoms.

So yes increasing vitamin c to a high amount can turn your urine to a funny color.

My body reacts to Chinese food as well. I know it will and I eat it anyway because sometimes I just have a craving for greasy delicious food. Because of that I rarely eat it but it is one of those once a month treats to myself since I will not touch any fast foods (except for Subway). Lots of salads for me though, Greek is my current obsession lol.

Love your tag line by the way acerousme.

And before I answer, when were we gonna do the speed date?

Urine color is mostly going to be dictated by what's going in the body, and internal health.

Holding urine, and not drinking enough water, will deepen the color of it readily and sometimes dramatically.

More water, more clearer urine in general.

I could go on a multi-paragraph dissertation on Vitamin C based on what I've studied; instead, I'll suggest that if I were in your position, and using higher doses of vitamin C, I would make sure it was only in either the ascorbic acid form (the most readily absorbed) or sodium ascorbate, as a buffered variety, as long as I did not have sodium issues.

If I decided to experiment with mega-dosing for any reason, I'd be aware that there is insistence in the medical community that C can contribute to kidney stone formation, specifically of the oxilate variety. I would also never use a calcium-variety vitamin C for this reason (nor would I use it under any conditions), but I personally believe, based on my research and the opinions of Pauling, Klenner and Levy (so I'm in good company) that C as ascorbic acid contributing to stones should only be a concern to those specifically prone to stones, and even then simply monitored, with lots of water daily...and another researcher even insists that C *reverses* the cause of the stones, saying that the claim is merely a medical-community myth with no actual case studies proving a connection.

I believe they're correct, and you can find Levy commenting on this in his experience as well, with someone who was prone to stones, and taking gargantuan amounts of ascorbate (150g's a day, IV) and only then even beginning to feel a sensation in his kidneys...at which point they dropped the daily volume, hydrated him, and it became a non-issue.

I've also used megadosing myself, as have a handful of people I know, all with benefits...but the rebound-scurvy thing needs to be understood before experimenting with it, and how C impacts enzymes, so that it is come off slowly, over time, to avoid any complications. In megadoses, say over two grams daily (I've used 25+ for specific purposes), it essentially acts as a drug, and it's use becomes more medical than simply supplemental. And I personally would not use megadoses unless I had a specific reason to do so.

However, Linus Pauling, the "grandfather of Vitamin C"...took 18 grams a day and lived to 93. He mixed ascorbic acid with sodium bicarbonate to buffer it just a bit (and it's delish, I've done that myself on a bunch of occasions).

All merely my opinion based on reading way too much, and we all know what opinions are worth.

    Speed dating...it begins now. lol

I think I was also dehydrated beyond what I should have been. I worked all day, and only had coffee (BAD ACE...BAD!) to drink all day....By the time I had gotten home, I was almost toast. And then I just...watched a movie, and tried to sleep. Once again, bad on my part.

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, so I am going to get them to check over everything with a fine toothed comb. I already have many health issues. I do not need another
