I am Bipolar...
I am bipolar and my health insurance just ended so now I don’t have the medication I was used to, to help me cope. Does anyone know of a more natural way to deal with this disorder? I don’t want to have to rely on medication…especially now that I can't get it anymore.

well there is some good news for you...i have bipolar as well and was recently removed from insurance. there a med called cymbalta and it works great. i was on all tons of meds before they could find one that works. this med is expensive but if you can talk to your doctor or psychiatrist and ask them to get you on the program that Lilly (the company that makes it) has for persons uninsured. They will need some type of verification on much income you have. they consider all necessary living expenses and determine if you are eligible. once you are you will receive 3-4 bottles at a time through the mail. this saved me because my manics are extreme anger and thats bad for everyone around me. i found a psychiatrist and paid 100.00 to see them and they sent all paperwork in and everything. there's also a med called lamicta which controls severe mood swings. this drug is also available for the uninsured just have to go through your doc or psychiatrist. if you're willing to pay the 100.00 its worth it because most family docs kind of blow these situations off and do not take them seriously as they should. i thought i was screwed once i didnt have insurance but there are tons of loop holes out there that no one want you to find out. hope this helps. if you have any questions just let me know.

I have a book about bipolar disorder, and I will look into what the natural supplements are that may help. (Don't have time to do it now; it's bedtime!) But a steady sleep cycle, exercise, good diet (it'll have the diet info in the book, which I'll give to you, too), will help a lot. Mostly the steady sleep cycle. I'm sorry about the health insurance thing... that really blows, especially with a mental illness as serious as this. Good luck.
