Hello out there! Just having being told that I have a large stone that is causing my some severe pain, and knowing that surgery is around the corner, I would appreciate you sharing with me if you have had this surgery and your length/time of recovery? Thanks!

I have not had this done, but I just took my best friend to the emergency room yesterday because of pains in her stomach. Turns out she has a gall stone too and some inflamation of the gall bladder. They are going to be removing her gall bladder, but they have had her on IV fluids since yesterday, trying to get the inflamation down first.

I do know that there are two types of surgery for this and your recovery time will depend on which surgery they are doing. It didn't sound like she would be down and out for too long though so that was reassuring. If I find out any more I will let you know. They aren't sure which surgery she will be having yet.

    Good luck to you!

I had my gall bladder removed in 2004. My surgery was laproscopic, and I was in and out in a few hours. I remember being pretty out of it the first day, and very nauseus. The second day was uncomfortable, the 4 incision points were sore and it was not fun to move. from then on I was ok but it hurt to lift for a few days. I had problems doind dishes and laundry because bending over was uncomfortable, but I felt great after a little over a week. All I have now are 4 little scars. Sometimes bowel movements can be a bit nasty, especially after greasy foods, but i'll take that over the pain I was in!!
    Hope this helps!

I had my Gall Bladder removed 18 months ago and I had not felt this good for a long time and it was instant, I had mine removed the old way, one incision, I was released from hospital 2 days later, I was told to have total rest for the first week and then to slowly get back to my old routine, not to lift anything heavy for at least 3 weeks. Because of the way the surgery was done I didn't suffer from the gas pains you get sometimes from the keyhole surgery. As long as you don't over do it you will be fine, the best of luck to you.
