Dissolving Stithes
There was another thread about this, but I have a question. I also have dissolving stitches which are now seven weeks old. At six weeks, I advised my doctor's associate that I felt I was still having an unusual amount of pain which I thought was being caused by the stitches that I could see were still visible. She told me that it could take up to four months for the stitches to dissolve. She removed the stitches she could see, but said to just massage the stitches which were still there. There was a significant decrease in the pain at the sites where the stitches had been removed. I have been told by others that the stitches should have dissolved after a couple of weeks. Can it really take four months for the stitches to dissolve? If stitches do not dissolve within a normal amount of time, should I assume they are not really dissolving stitches? Thanks, Laura

Laura,
I had dissolving stitches. I think they are supposed to "dissolve" and come out on their own.
Did your doctor prescribe anything for your pain?
I don't know if they take 4 months to dissolve... maybe they do, I don't know.
