Recently I have been diagnosed by my doctor with severe Gerd. I have been put on a strict bland diet and I have been trying to find recipies and anything possible that can help lift the load. I wake up feeling nausea and all of my food or drinks sits on my chest. It has weakened my immune system and now I suffer from ear infections all the time. I hope there is someone out there that can help me.
    God is love, Always

    Hi,

I totally feel for you. I have had severe GERD for about 6 years now. I have been on heavy duty meds for it because nothing over the counter would work for me. I have been on Aciphex and Protonix. They are the strongest. However, recently, I have found that Prilosec OTC works for me. I also have a hiatial hernia which adds to the reflux. Without my medicine, I get severe pain in my chest, burning in my stomach all the way up my throat, nausea, vomiting...and even spells of being gagged in the middle of the night by it. I would look into adding a medicine in addition to diet. I find that I can still indulge as long as I am following my medicine regimen. Tomato sauce and coffee are big no-no's for me!

    I can't stand tomato sauce!
It really sends my system into orbit.

If I feel like my stomach is upset, I use 1 teaspoon of baking soda to 8 oz. of water. It settles the stomach immediately and helps you expell gas .

Wink No soda aloud for me it really help

    Hi my name is Jill,
I know what you are going through I have the same thing you have. Ever since I find out what you have I have not had a soda in over 3 years now it really help me by staying away from drinking soda. I'm taking medicine called Nexium it really help with my acid reflex. At first they though it was my gallbladder I had a endoscopy done to find out it was not my gallbladder. But found out I also have a hiatus hernia and acid reflex. did they ever check you for that. I'm also having problem with my period I get really bad cramps during my period. So next month I'm having a laparoscopy to find out what going on with my stomach. Are you having any problem with your periods if so you get checked out by your OBGYN. Thanks Jill

apple cidar vinegar, liquid tastes aweful, but the pills are easy to swallow. You may want to look it up online.

    Default Protonix

My hubby has AWFUL heartburn--and nothing worked for him. Everything gave him heartburn, even water! His throat badly damaged. He went and got a Rx for Protonix, and it really helps. It even helps repair damage. It is pricey, about $150/30 pills, but you can find a generic brand also.

There are several prescription drugs out there, but there are other heartburn remedies available as well. For me, I ate only meals the size of my fist at a time. Nothing spicy, greasy, or fried was allowed. I baked and grilled all of my meats, and you learn to make them tasty. Also, I learned how to sleep sitting up or lying on an incline, to keep the food in my stomach, rather than in my throat. The incline sleeping should help the ear infections, as those are probably caused by the bacteria of the stomach content sitting in the back of your throat while you sleep. So, if you raise the head of your bed, sleep on pillows, or the couch (I know this is not a fun option), the ear infections should subside a bit.
