I found out I had HPV when I was about your age, too. As far as I know, a healthy non-smoker's immune system can clear the virus within two years. There are something to the tune of 35 strains, some cause warts, some cause cervical cancer (over 9 in 10 cases are caused by the virus), some do nothing, and men can't be tested. A LOT of people contract HPV at least once in their lives. I've read estimates from 50-80% of the American population.

I was treated once for abnormal cells on my cervix (precursor to cancerous cells) and that was that.

I freaked when they told me I had an STD but as far as STDs go (lol) HPV doesn't seem to be much of a monster if you've been diagnose early. I wasn't terribly worried after I did a little reading. People should be more aware of it, though.

    Question To: Jujubee Vanillabean

You Said You Had Hpv And Also Had Cells Removed?
What Type Of Procedure Was Done? Cryo, Cone Or Leep?
I Am 24 And Have Been In A Serious Relationship With My Guy For 7 Years, We Plan On Getting Married/have Kids In The Future.
I Was Recently Diagnosed With Hpv And Was Wondering If You Knew Anything About Serious Couples/married People Having To Use Condoms, That Would Put A Serious Damper On Our Sexual Relationship. Just Wondering Cause I'm Actually Waiting On Results From My Second Biopsy. I Am High-risk And It's Killing Me To Wait On My Doctor's Reccomendations. Let Me Know About Your Experience. Maybe It'll Put My Mind At Ease.
    Thanks & Take Care.
