How long do side effects of medication last if you only took them for two days? (first day: 4 tablets, second day: 2 tablets). They have the ingredient
Dextropropoxyphene hydrochlorid. They were supposed to reduce my back pain but instead made me nausea, abnominal pains, dizzy..it's the fourth day now & am geeting worried. Could it be pregnancy? (but I have been playing safe)

Hey mmtgal.... Medication can be horrid... It can throw your body way out of whack... I have an injury and have taken pain killers, a while ago, but i remember don't you worry.

I don't know how long your on them for, can you try a couple of Disprin to see if that eases your pain? Sounds to me that the dosage is high and your body is not tolerant to the dosage, ...

I had to take tablets once that threw me for a week, it was pretty much all you described, definitely wasn't in a position to get pregnant.

Nausea, can happen for lots of reasons, not necessarily pregnancy, especially with medication....

Sounds too high to me for your body to cope with...

    Keep smiling, ok...

    Hi there mmtgal,

I just wanted to say that my body is extremely sensitive to medications. I can usually bet that the side effects that the perscriptions say usually don't happen to people sure enough happens to me.
I was in a car accident once a few years back and had to take some pain relievers/ muscle relaxants and i can tell you that they made me feel the exact same way you describe. The nausea and the headaches were enough to make me say that i was not going to take them no matter how bad the pain had gotten. It was only later i discovered that the pain medicince was too high of a dosage for me which is why my body had such a drastic reation to it.
Nauseau ( i find) is just your bodies way of finding an out for the thing(s) that are making the body not feel good. I would call the doctor and talk to them about an alternative to what they currently have you on.
I know alot of doctors say the benefits you gain from the medicine outways the down side to taking it but i don't see how that could be so when you gain 2-5 more things wrong with you then when you originally went in to see the doctor. (just my two cents of course)

Well i do hope that something i have said helps you or another person who may look at this post. Please be sure to keep us posted on how you are doing.

    Hugs

Unfortunately some drugs take no time at all to build up in your body but take a while to leave. I don't think you're pregnant, I think the drug is still in your body.

I just had a HORRID reaction to Keflex, which I've taken and tolerated before. I was on 1,500 mgs a day and after four pills, I ended up with severe diarrhea, severe dizziness, and some stomach cramps. I stopped the meds immediately (per my doc) but its three days later and I'm still slightly dizzy.

I have to wait it out. And now the doc wants me on Clindamycin and that has crazy side effects that he swears I won't get - HA! I'm going right to the pharmacist and asking what alternatives there are that are easy on the digestive tract. Sometimes they know alternatives better than the doctor does.

Am a bit better today. The back pain and the abdominal pains are gone & the nausea is better. Thank you for all your responses. I thought i was the only one experiencing this.
