I wrote a thread on Acute Gastritis a while ago. I went to the ER a few months ago because of stomach pains and back pain and the doctor said its gastritis. He diagnosed this just by symptoms.

Then, a few weeks ago when i started having the pain again someone mentioned gall bladder to me. I didn't pay it no mind but today i had some family over and and one of them is a nurse and she was telling me, if my back hurts especially the right shoulder blade it is infact gall bladder. Now my back do hurt and im worried because i heard if it is not taken care of early it can lead to death!

Has anyone ever had there gall bladder taken out and what was the symptoms?

I need to do some research on this and see a doctor asap to find out.

I think it's tricky when people diagnose Patricia, a fear sweeps in, oh no what if?

See, i often get a right shoulder blade pain but that was due to an injury in 1999 as well as back aches. Reading what you wrote.. You scared the out of me, what if its? See, what i mean...

In addition, gastro pains can also make your back ache, had that too. Or do so..

They do say, if you eat too fast, too much air gets in your system and can cause gastro, for instance. Lactose intollerance can as well, whilst you are un-aware that spicy foods, some milks etc give it to you. But, that should consist of bloated stomach at times as well, as confusion of running to the loo verses not at all... So you can oliminate that one, if that's not the case.

Weak stomachs, and i think you wrote this happened after your little one was born? And, stomach's can tear a bit there and cause that pain?

It's a tough call, and i guess a few tests can hopefully oliminate and diagnose for you..

    It's horrible being in fear...

Hope you've managed to check a few extra options there by now...

I had my gallbladder removed 11 years ago. The symptoms are caused by what you are eating, try to avoid spicy or fried fatty foods, especially hotdogs or sausages or things like that. When I had my attacks the pain was more severe than any pain I ever had while I was in labor. They can diagnose with an ultrasound, it will show if there are any crystals or stones formed in the gallbladder.

My doctor told me that there are certain factors that make one more likely to have problems with their gallbladder. Overweight, had a baby, a family history, and fair skinned women are the most common. I had every strike against me. Ask your doctor before you stress about it though. Even if it is indeed your gallbaldder it was a simple out patient procedure for me, and you can not even notice a scar whatsoever.

I had my gallbladder removed about a year and a half ago. The doctor was convinced it was gastritis, I mentioned gallbladder and he refused to believe it. I paid extra for him to give me an ultra-sound just to make sure and turns out I had a HUGE gallstone.

    Thanks for all the replies!

I had an Edoscopy done a few days ago. I have a small hernia in my stomach and lots and lots of acid. Tomorrow i have an appointment schedule for an abdominal sonogram i guess thats to check for gall bladder.
I got some pills to take called "Zegerid" for 30 days. I'll update tomorrow when i get the results.

Patricia, Just wondering how it worked out for you. How did the gallbladder look?

I too had symptoms of "gastritis" and a fair amount of back pain for quite some time before I realized it was my gallbladder. It finally got to the point where I had pain every time I ate, no matter what it was. Strangely, the pain wouldn't start right after eating, but hours later.

I had my gallbladder out yeasterday. I am AMAZED at how good I feel! The constant indigestion is gone, the reflux is gone...Nothing short of a miracle. (My ultrasound had shown multiple stones.)

I do hope they found some answers for you. ;c)

What was the surgery like? Did you have to stay in the hospital after you had it down? Do you know how much it cost?

I went in yesterday for 7:30 surgery. They did it through the laparascope, so I only had 4 small incisions. I then went to recovery, and was on my way home by 10:30. I took it easy when I got home. Mostly rested on the couch. Ate some soup, took Lortab for pain. Today I felt well enough to take a shower and do laundry. (OK, I shouldn't have done the laundry, but seriously, I feel good!)

I plan to return to work in about 10 days. I am a nurse.

Sometimes they do keep you overnight, and of course you can stay if you want to, but I didn't want to. It really is considered outpatient surgery. You have to be able to drink and pee before they let you go home.

I was terribly nervous about getting this done. But it was much easier than I has anticipated. It made me especially worried after reading so many horror stories online about all the pain, etc. post op. Sure, everyone is different, but I guess after having bad gallbladder pain for so long, minor post op pain in no big deal. Of course, I put it off longer than I should have. The Dr. said I had a lot of inflammation and adhesions around the gallbladder.

Also, be sure to check out your surgeon. Ask around to see who is the best..

I do not know how much it costs in total, because I primarily used insurance, but I am sure I will be paying part of the bill. I can let you know when it arrives. Don't let cost stop you from getting it done. That is what payment plans are for.

I hope you can get relief soon.

I had never had pain from my gallbladder, but last year I started having pain and in 2 days it was worse and worse. I called 911 and went via ambulance to the hospital. I had sepsis from my gallbladder. I was put into a medically induced coma and was given a ct scan. I was allergic to the dye they used and it "killed" my kidneys. So, then I was pt on dialysis to get the poison out of y blood. I nearly died and was intubated and put on a ventilator. (still unconscious) I was out fr the whole month of December and part of January. When I was conscious, I had lost weight and more importantly had lost a lot of muscle. I had to learn to walk again and was so weak. I had a catheter in my side going into my gallbladder with a bag to drain fluids for 7 months. I got home in March of this year and have been struggling to get stronger. I was too weak to have my gallbladder out and ended up going to Mass General for another opinion. That gastroenterologist suggested I don't have GB surgery. I have a hole in my gallbladder that goes to my duodenum and if I get anymore gallstones they will just go out. That hole was caused by my gallstones making a hole in my gallbladder back in Dec. I'm getting better now, but when I got home, my hair fell out due to debiitation. Things are better now, hair is back and I only have to take my temperature a little while more to make sure I'm okay. Just want people to know, I very nearly died. It's a miracle I didn't. If you get symptoms, get medical treatment right away. I didn't get any pain till it all began, but most people do get pain......I can never have the less invasive cholectomy, but if you get to it in time, you should be okay to......
