Unhappy i think i have diabetes

Hello ladies,

A while ago i had some diabetic tests (2 maybe 3 yrs ago) i was told i wasn't making enough insulin but not diabetic. With me being over weight i was put on tablets called Metformin and boy did it give me back ache it was that bad i couldn't get out of bed so i told my doctor i had to stop and since i stopped i have had no back pains. They noticed again in my blood (wanted to know why i stopped taking the tablets) and this time put on a different tablet but i cant think of its name it started like Gluco...and this tablet did the same it gave me back ache and i was told i wouldn't have any problems taking it.I have been feeling very thirsty just lately and with my husband being diabetic i tested my blood glucose and it was high.I'm waiting now for the results from my blood test i'm frightened i will be in pain again taking tablets so can i ask you if you take tablets and what they are called?how did you find out you were diabetic? were you thirsty too? is it true women can get thrush.

Thank you

Lightbulb Diabetes--PCOS

Hello. I read another thread you wrote and you tested you were previously tested for PCOS, and that came back neg. Can I ask what tests they did? Are you being treated by a GP or an OBGYN or an endocrinologist? I started exhibiting symptoms of a definite problem as soon as I started my first period. I would go months without a period and then have a HEAVY period for weeks, up to six months (that sucked). 2 different GP's tested me for PCOS by doing ultrasounds (or something similar) to search for cysts on my ovaries. Makes sense, right? Unfortunately, this is just one of several symptoms, and may not be a prevalent one. Eventually I was referred to a specialist OBGYN who referred me to an Endocrinologist who is really the best one to diagnose PCOS (which is certainly a prediabetic condition) and Diabletes. The other thing that concerned me was when you stated that you took metformin and had a bad reaction, so then you were put on gluco...something. If the gluco...something was glucophage, then you had the same reaction because they are the same drug.

So many other things can indicate PCOS: the wretched facial hair, the excess weight, skin that is thicker around the feet and ankles, skin that is darker under arms and breasts, and so on. I guess what I am saying is, if you haven't already, see a highly recommended endocrinologist. Whether you have PCOS, diabetes, or something else, this is the medical specialty to properly diagnose and treat insulin-related disorders.

I was put through the ringer of tests for 16 years (age 14-30) before I FINALLY got my diagnosis. I never thought I would be so happy to find out I was sick.

Unhappy diabettes /pcos

I have been to hospital for the past ten yrs. Many yrs ago for heavy periods it was called a scrape which i had done in the early 90'.They don't do this now for heavy periods I have had trouble with heavy periods and i have had fibroids removed. They talked about hysterectomy to me once but to go through this i would have to loose weight.I went back to see my GP many yrs ago with another problem and said "DR what causes women to have hair on the faces" he told me one or two things and i was sent to hospital for tests.I'm not sure if it was the Gynacologist that tested me for pcos when i saw them about fibroids i haven't got pcos but i'm having similar symptoms to women who have this facial hair/excess weight. The DR i saw about my hair growth on the face said that my skin looked dull around my neck and said i was lacking in insulin so thats where the tests started to see if i was diabetic. When my blood tests came back they said that i wasn't diabetic and so that things didn't get worse i had to take Metformin.Thank you so much for telling me about Metformin and Glucophage. When i was tested it came back ok and not diabetic but had to take this tablet so that i wouldn't get worse and because i stopped taking the tablets the pains in my back went.I recently went to see my doctor and said i felt thirsty alot and had to go for more blood tests and this time i'm told i'm type 2 diabetic.
