For about 3 months I was loosing ALOT of hair. When washing it and also drying it. I have noticed a huge difference in the thickness of my hair. Tried the shampoo for thinning hair and still no difference. I was becoming that I didn't even want to wash it. YEK!! I have been told that this can run in the family, but asking my mom it didn't happen to her. Any suggestions on what to do before at 42 and bald? Of course afraid to go to the doctor to see maybe if there is anything really wrong. Please help.
Hi want2know.
Still with us? We hope so.
I noted in another thread you stated that you are a "stay at home mum now/dad" and have been for 4 years but want to change that, bored, so much time on your hands etc, etc.
If your stressed, you can certainly loose a lot of hair instantly...
For sure generics can be a reason but hair loss to baldness usually is not that noticeable, and happens over quite some time.
Sudden hair loss as far as i know can be due to hormones, medications and thyroid problems, one of the three, or as i said stress.
I would suggest you go and see your Doctor about it as over a three month period is rapid.
Some statistics will state that your hair grows 1 inch a month, finally mine is starting to look like it's getting way past my shouldersbut also that an average of up to 100 hairs a day can be lost..
It is not good to rub your hair with a towel vigorously, and it is suggested to use good olive oil, into the scalp, wrap in cling wrap, then a warm towel and leave for 2 yrs, to get the pours to open up more and function more.
Might look great to the Mrs, she might really like that new look ...
But if it has decreased rapidly like this then as i said, go see your doctor and ask about the above symptoms and if your on medication mention that to her/him as well.
Best of luck.
