Have any of you expierienced "Pica"?

Or the weird craving for non-food substances like chalk, powder, raw uncooked rice, erasers etc.? I had them in high school.

I've only ever heard of pregnant women experiencing this...but my interest is perked lol.
What type of craving was it...taste, feeling, uncontrollable urge? I've heard of people eating gravel before but never understood why. I could certainly understand it if it's about the physical feeling.

It's a sign of anemia, so maybe get a blood test

yes, actually...I have pica, pagophagia in particular which is eating ice...I eat ice allllll day long and crave it. I don't have any health insurance so I cannot have a medical evaluation, although I know craving and chewing ice is related to anemia. I donate blood periodically, though, and when they test my iron before hand I am always within the acceptable limits. I am trying to take extra iron supplements right now to stop doing this because I know i am destroying my teeth. I also know that there are other more serious issues that could be causing this, so hopefully it won't be too long before I can get real medical help if I can't stop.
