I've got nothing productive to except that it isn't statutory rape everywhere - in fact in MANY places in the world (including me in the UK) the legal age of consent is 16, not 18.

Nope. 17 years is the age of consent for sex in NY.

Anon...there are different laws in different states about consensual sex. Here in Canada its 16, before it was 14!!!

Here is the link for the laws in the different states.

Age of Consensual Sex in the USA

PS. that last post by my username was my mom writing, so this is my first time seeing this thread. And Anna, STICK TO MEN YOUR OWN AGE!! I'm sorry, but it's too bad you went out and slept with him. LEARN from this now!

Not when they're 17, our laws are still 16, from when i was 16, and i'm 44...

I remember that and that was a few years ago now, i read in a Magazine a few months ago, though correct me if i am wrong, but (1) at that time, the parents invited her over so that they could throw her in gaol, under their laws however, of by memory they have actually, since married and they now have a baby. She was certainly a lot older, 30's early 40's but there you go, it had a happy ending, not sure why therefore that's sickening, he loved her obviously as this was around 3 years later and nothing stopped them..... a love story of different ages.

Now we can also look at Ashton K, and Demi M, he's 30? and she's 45, but of course she has the $$ to keep looking younger He married her, 15 year difference.

Such is life, i believe.

I actually personally, thought that i would prefer a younger man, say 30 - 35, or an older may, 48ish, now, both have a lot to offer and it wouldn't bother me if they were younger, or older....

Mmm... Interesting, i appreciate a 16 year old guy is growing into manhood but who says why people fall in love?

I'm just staying un-biast that's all, plus i'm not a mum, but if i was, i probably would have thought what those parents thought at the time, i don't know if i would have her go to America in order to trap her into gaol though? That's a bit rough, take his computer away? That wouldn't have worked he'd go to his friends place, i guess as a parent you will go to all means in order to "protect", but alas in that story it didn't work perhaps that made him even more convinced?

That old thing of rebellion?

He did look over the moon regarding his little baby and he did have "that look" in his eyes regarding to her, i think he is 19, or 20 now?

But i got your drift so to speak...

I just think it's too hard to tell anyone, they have to make their own decisions and it will work or won't.

its just a sad thing really as you say the parents fault cause the boys father wanted him to join the army and the boy didn't want to go wasn't happy about it so he just told everything to this lady he met on here and she just felt sorry for him that she cared for him i don't think is really love that the boy thinks. but really the woman should of used her brains , parents will do anything to protect their child.

That's right, it's all coming back.... I guess it's bit like on here though, some can't talk to their parents some come here for advice... in that instance, he was playing games and she came into the picture, that nurturing woman that understood...

Anyway, i hope they live happily ever after, until she's 60 and he's 45 and says ahhhhh, only joking.....

She may have been immature as well at her age? I wouldn't have accepted a plane ticket, and possible wrath, let alone, gaol....

Anyway, that ends that i guess...

HOWEVER, i love people in general but nice to see an Australian here with me, i was feeling very alone, lol.....

fascinating info from teh link someone provided. it offers this, concerning the age of consent:

Although many young people are mature enough to know how to deal with the consequences of sex, some teens are not grown up enough to know that their actions have consequences. Age of consent laws are there to stop young people from being exploited by adults.

if exploitation of young people by adults is the target, laws going after pornographers would be better suited to this end, rather than age of consent laws.

anybody catch the newly opened federal case against max hardcore? he dressed his 18 year old "actress" up like a little girl & had her tell the camera she was 13 before he had sex with her, sodomized her, and p*ssed in her mouth.

we're so lucky to have guys like this in our world. and it's all OK, because she was 18!

yay!

Where are you parents in all thins?

Did you have safe sex?...

You are probably not the first and certainly not the last... God knows where he dips his stick...

I know of 17 year olds that are not that naive either...

Anyway... Hope you know better by now...
