Default BV completely unresponsive to treatment - PLEASE HELP!

I have had ongoing BV since January of this year (so, 10 months). My symptoms are primarily the dark brown, smelly discharge. I was initially prescribed Metro 500 mg three times per day for five days; no effect whatsoever. Three weeks later, gyno repeated this treatment. Still nothing - no relief from symptoms; referred back to my GP for ongoing care. GP would not give me anything else until my husband was treated. So, two months later, I (and my husband) went through another oral treatment of Metro. No change whatsoever. Six weeks later, and a new GP - prescribed me Clindamycin three times per day for seven days. Nothing.

What the heck? The smell is disgusting, sex life is practically non-existent (we have been using condoms since our daughter was born 14 months ago - not sure if that information is of any consequence), and I have to wear pantyliners every day (for 10 MONTHS!). I am SOOO ready for this to be done. I have made an appointment with a naturopathic doctor for next week. My husband and I are scheduled to go away for our 10th anniversary on November 7th; now we are looking at cancelling this. This has been really upsetting, and I'm hoping like heck that someone can give me some insight as to how to quickly get rid of this (unrealistic hope, I know).

    Please, help?

I know exactly how you feel. I was thinking of going to a naturopathic doctor myself. I have been using pantyliners for almost 4 years. Nothing I do seems to work either. I hope you visit to the doctor turns positive and if it does, please let me know so I can try it.

I used to have chronic BV and had tried everything. The Dr ended up putting me on the gel suppositories for 2 months straight. Every night I would have to insert a suppository and then after the 2 months she checked if the "good bacteria" grew back. Then I went on it for another 2 months but 3x a week. Then checked again and I had finally gotten rid of the "bad" bacteria and never had it since.

I've had BV for almost 5 years now and it's been getting worse and worse over the years. I have tried everything that everyone is talking about and some worked for a while then stopped, some didn't work at all.

For all you guys suffering from this you HAVE to read the "Chronic Bacterial vaginosis" forum and skip right to the newest entries. Look for entries by "Detective Sarah". She discovered something that has worked for her and I have discovered something similar based on what she discovered that has worked wonders for me, both these things are cheap and easy.

STOP getting antibiotics from the doctor, they don't work and they are VERY bad for you. Another thing, the doctors won't help. Their solution is to just give you more antibiotics or stronger doses. Don't get me wrong, I believe in Doctors and the need to go to them but they can't help you with this chronic problem, trust me. You must read the forum I mentioned above, it will help.
