Exclamation Can Anyone Help Me?

Hi, I am 23 yrs old and I am at the end of my road, I need answers and my Dr.s cant give them to me.
I will start from the beginning....
I got my first period when I was 7 yrs old and my periods have never been "normal".
I was put on the pill at 15 to try to regulate my cycle, cause I would have it on and off throughout the month.
It worked for a few years, until 3yrs ago. My periods started to come fewer and farther in between. I gained alot of weight right around my lower abdomen area. I would experience pain during intercourse and pain in that area if I sneezed. Then i had my period for 13 months straight, not a day without it. It would be a constant heavily flow and i would get bad headaches and cramps, it was hard to work or focus.
My gynecologist did some tests and found out that i had Uterine fibroids and the Endometrial Lining of my uterus was too thick (close to an inch), so she performed an D&C (dilation and curettage procedure) on October 15th 2007. My periods stopped after that, but the pain continued. My Dr. changed my Birth control prescription + Diet and said to wait it out. Well, I haven't had my period since!
I'm not pregnant, i have been tested so many times. My Dr. keeps taking blood test after blood test and can't find anything wrong. I have seen 2 other Dr's and they are saying the same thing.
I have recently researched PCOS and i have almost all of the symptoms, but my Dr. doesn't believe that I have it. She ran the Thyroid, hormones and Diabetes tests and it all came back normal.
So the next step is to change my birth control, ONCE AGAIN and wait it out.

I can't just wait it out. I know my body and I know something is wrong! I need help!
I can't be in constant pain and wondering what is wrong!
Also, I am really scared! Cancer runs in my family. My mother had a hysterectomy 4yrs ago due to Uterine Cancer. My Grandmother died of Breast Cancer, My grandfather has Testicular Cancer, My aunt has Cervical Cancer, and My Great-Aunt died of Brain Cancer.
I am so scared of getting cancer, especially if I am not having my period and shedding my uterine lining.

If anyone can help me search for answers, I would be so grateful and forever in your debt!
THANK YOU!

Default I hope this helps...

You need to find another gyno in another office. You need a second opinion and a doctor who will actively listen to your concerns & past medical history (including your families).

Something is wonky here. You started your periods at 7? What was your diet like? Consumption of growth hormone, through dairy and meat has been implicated in early menstration but 7?! Have you have a full multi phasic physical? Get one, complete blood panels and the works. Find an integrated medicine doctor and start getting to he bottom of this.

Did they do an oblation with the D&C? I've having that done next week, it does stop your period in about 50% of women but after the D&C alone you should be back to normal periods. The body works as an integrated whole, not isolated parts, get to a practictioner who deals with the entire picture. You will have to educate yourself. It's your body, you live in it. Learn to monitor it and what it needs. No one else is as motivated as you are to have it working right. Diet, exersize, meditation, positive attitude all play a part.

Hi,

I hope you have been to another gynecologist since your last post! If not, get to one as something is not right, and you need to be examined and worked up for a variety of problems. Perhaps you might have your gyne doctor refer you to a good endocrinologist as well. I do believe that there is a condition in which women who begin menstruation prematurly also become perimenopausal/menopausal very early...can't remember much more about it at the moment--sorry!

If it is PCOS, there are a lot of studies going on right now. I know Northwest University in Chicago is doing a large study right now. You might be able to get some good information there.

Regardless of what you have going on, I wish you the very best! It must be frightening and frustruating!

Good luck!

OH my...I had alot of your very same symptoms....and after 3 yrs of researching on my own and switching doctors 4 times..I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis...The reason they dind't diagnose me sooner is because I had 4 kids, in turn means I didn't ovulate alot...LOL..by the time I would get regular again I would get preggers again..Yes it took me a few years after each child to get regular...

See, with Endo it's the estrogen that makes it worse...So when yo are not ovulating the pain subsides a little...I spent a good long time in alot of pain...Sleeping with hot pads, not being able to move when I was pms'ing and on my period...

I know this is an older post, but if the OP hasn't looked into Endo...I say do it...There is no cure for Endo, however you can control it if it is not to far along...

I am sending you warm wishes, I remember the pain all to well!

I hope yu tooknthe wildchild's advice and got to a real doc by now! There is a nothing worse than living in constant pain and you desreve to have some answers. Also, the fact that you have so much cancer in your fam. makes it hard not to worry, but honestly do some meditation, yogs/pilates, and eating right and seeing the right doc will all make a huge difference. I wish you the best.
