Default Progesterone levels

Hello!

I'm 37 and had a progesterone level (during luteal phase) of 8.8 ng/ml. I'm having slight spotting betweeen periods, some episodes of nightsweats and a decreased sex-drive. An eco showed I have a small uterine fybrome that could be causing the spotting. My new gyneco says I have a progesterone deficiency and gave me synthetic progesterone (lutenyl) to take for 10 days each month... I know I have symptoms of perimenopause but a progesterone deficiency with 8.8 on the blood test?!
Plus, she said progesterone had NO side effects which, of course, is not true as it is a synthetic hormone.
I should add I have acne (mainly in the jaw area) and increased thick black hairs on the face... I have to pluck them everyday....not amusing...
Can someone shed some light here...?
Thanks
