Default Ovary removed - what follow up?

    Hi everyone

On 6th January I had a large dermoid cyst and my right ovary removed via laparotomy. My consultant said that my left ovary was perfectly normal. I'm due to go for a 6 week post op check up, but I was wondering whether there should be any further follow up after that?

What I'm worried about is that I'm only 31 and don't have any kids, and now that I've only got one ovary, what if a cyst develops and I lose that one too? Should I have it scanned regularly to check it? Or do they just leave it unless you start to get any symptoms?

HI! I think you should discuss these things to your consultant. This kind of answers you get only from a specialist. But you can always search in Internet similar problems just to feed your curiosity.

Anyway, I think you can still have kids! So don't give up.

    Take care
