I had a previous thread regarding the issue of whether or not I was pregnant. Well, I had my follow-up this week on blood work and it turns out that I have PCOS ( Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome ). From my research on this, I dont produce eggs during my ovulations, my ovaries enlarge, and I develop cysts. I know based on reading online about it that fertility is a major issue affected by PCOS. And that diabeties can be a result. We were researching and discussing the option we were given by the doctor, which was to get on birth control for a while. The doctor wants me to get on birth control to regulate my pds, but thats all it addresses. Then when we want a baby, she wants us to see a fertility specialist. I do plan to get a second opinion, but after talked with my husband, mother, and mother-in-law, we are wondering if its best to try and have a baby sooner rather than later. We would be on the birth control for a while, then wait for it to clear my system, then the time to try to concieve? Is this correct? I mean, isnt that the way it would go? Isnt it harder to have a baby as you get older? Would this be wise to try for a baby now beofre we go straight to the birth control? Would it create a high risk pregnancy for me or the baby or both? Im 23 years old and my husband is 26. We have been married for a little over a year. We would love to have a baby and hope that we can figure what path is best for us.
    Thanks

You raise valid points. It's really up to u & your hubby when you want to conceive. It's a good idea to get a 2nd opinion and ask tons of ?'s. Good luck w/ whatever u decide. Take care.
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Thank you for your response. We already found 2 doctors to choose from for a second opinion. Hopfully we can get scheduled in soon. We went back and forth on a baby right now. We have decided together that we will proceed on with starting the b c pill for a while. Get regular pds and give it some time. Then see about having a baby in the next year or two like we had always planned. We dont want to risk having a tricky pregnancy or anything. But its been tough... all the " what if " are bouncing in and out of my mind. I can be ok on mintue and crying the next. Maybe thats to the hormone inbalance too, but its a serious issue. Thank you again for your response and wishes.
    Thank you
