Hi all,

I just joined because i cant take this anymore, and am looking for some advice!

I was misdiagnosed with a yeast infection for about a year, when finally a new gyno said i had BV. she gave me a week of flagy, and i was back to normal. this was in august.

fast forward to last week, when my boyfriend and i have sex and i feel the symptoms coming back. (he actually called me up, saying the tip of his penis was red and inflamed and itchy) i know something is wrong, and call my dr. (i am in college and very far away from my gyno, and there are no gynos that i trust in this area). she prescribed me 3 days of cleocin. after the three days, i feel better, but not completley. she gives me 5 days of flagyl, twice a day. i currently have one day left of flagyl, but for the past 2 days, everytime i take it, my vagina BURNS internally worse than it did before i started any treatments. urination is painful, sex is extremely painful, my urine is cloudy, and i dont have much of an odor. earlier today i smelled a fishy smell but that was the only time i ever experienced that, its gone now. i also dont have much of a discharge, maybe some white/yellow but its very thin.

im scared that my BV was maybe over-treated, and now i have a yeast infection? i dont see how, after all this treatment, the BV could possibly be coming back even stronger than before? my logic is that possibly the antibiotics have killed too many bacteria, and yeast has taken over.

also, as a side note, i broke out in herpes cold sores on my nose yesterday, the same day i noticed symptoms returning. could this be associated with either type of infection?

i have a normal pap, which was done a few weeks ago, and am STD free.

also - do you think my boyfriend should be treated for something here? weve been continuing to have unprotected sex while ive been on these medications, so its possible hes been transmitting something back to me. however, after much research, i have found that BV isnt sexually transmitted and that men dont require treatment for it.

this is so frustrating because its put such a damper on the sex life of my new boyfriend and i, and its really gotten me down. thank you to anyone who can help, i really appreciate it.
