My cycle has been perfectly stable for YEARS. I started on the pill in high school because of outrageously painful menstrual pains, and that regulated my period so that I started every Tuesday and ended every Saturday. Eventually I switched to a different pill (to abate weight gain) and my period shorted by a day, starting on Wednesday and still ending on Saturday.
Two months ago my fiance and I started P90X. It's a pretty intense workout, particularly the 'cardio' days (Kenpo, Plyometrics...), and I'd read that intense workout can send your period a little out of whack, but this is getting ridiculous.
The first month it started three days early and lasted a day longer...The earlier days were a little lighter flow but the remaining days were just as heavy as usual and coming on the end I wondered if it was actually going to stop...my first 8-day period ever.
This month it has started...get this...a full 6 days early. I started yesterday, Thursday, when normally I wouldn't start until next Wednesday. If I, consequently, go all the way to next Saturday, I think I might just snap.
Anyone else go through something like this? Any idea when my body might get back to normal?
Intense exersize can change your period and if you lose too much wieght and/or work out too hard you'll lose enough body fat that your periods could stop altogther. I knew a woman who became a bicycling fanatic and had this happen. She had so little body fat it was scary and the doc told her to gain some weight!
