A few months ago I was diagnosed with high testosterone levels/PCOS. I was put on 500mg of Metformin daily along with Spironolactone 25mg daily. I am also taking Kariva for birth control along with Super B complex vitamins and Folic acid to help with the migraines I suffer.

I was wondering if anyone else has this condition what are the medications you are taking? I asked the doctor about fertility issues in the future and she said the meds will hopefully lesson the chance of that. I will not have medical insurance again until October 1st (starting a new job 7/6) and I have enough of the Metformin to get me there but I only have about another 5 days left of the spironolactone (and one refill). The spironolactone is very inexpensive to buy without insurance but I will still have to go almost 2 months without it. From what I have read it treats side effects of PCOS so I am wondering if I could just go without it until October.

I am assuming that it is not as important because when I went to the gyno last month she was only able to write me a script for the metformin and birth control.

And does being on birth control raise risks of having infertility problems in the future? I want to see how much it costs without insurance so I can keep taking it but I also worry about the side effects of it. The first doctor that diagnosed me (she was a doctor at the medical office at my college, I saw her for about three months and then graduated and can't see her anymore) and told me I should really be on birth control and my gyno seems to always really push it too.

Thanks so much for any help,

Christina
