Thread: Itching on Vulva

i have had the same thing and I have had multiple docs test me for everything under the sun. its not an onset itch it feels like a sharp pain at first then an itch! No one has been able to tell me what it is yet but when/if i find out I will let you know. Mine is only on the right side too. It seems to happen more at night but mine are very frequent almost everyday.

I finally was refered to a great dermatologist and vulvologist. They concurred that while not diagnosed by biopsy, it presented as Atopic Lichen Sclerosis. A superpotent cortisone ugt was prescribed, but I developed cracking perineal skin from that. I am now on Elidil cream and doing great. Also on vagifem suppositories 2 times per week, to help estrogen replacement of menopause. The vulvologist told me that having urinary frequency, urgency and urinary leakage is common and must be under control to promote good skin health. Cotton underwear, washing undergarments in baby soap product help. Avoid wearing tight clothing as that irritates the skin and can prompt symptoms. This all started with a burn from KY warming lotion, followed by yeast infections that I have to be very aware of,and get treatment immediately.
