Default Periods stopped after Zoladex Injection

Hi, i was trying to find answers on the net until i come to this forum. I m very desperate and i would like advice from anyone who has been through same or even a doctor. In december 2008 i discovered that i have a fibroid behind my uterus and i saw a gyne who prescribed me zoladex injection (2 times after every 3 months). I had first injection in december 2008 then after 3 months i came down to london. Doctors here refused to inject me the second dose of zoladex injection. They said my fibroid is too small and i can have my children. They discovered here that i have polycystic ovaries which my doctor back home didnt diagnonised. i was told that my periods would come right after i stopped zoladex injection and i didnt get my periods yet. Its already 9 months since i had the injection. I suffer too much of hot flushes everyday and i feel tired and uncomfortable at work. I went to see GP cause i was not getting my periods so they prescribed me with provera. I still didnt get my periods after taking those tablets. I am just 31 years old and i have no kids. I am very much worried abt my health cause i want to have a baby. Can someone help me or advise me abt what i should do.

    Thank you Sonia

Have you been to the Dr since taking the Provera?

I've always been irregular unless I was on BC pills. When trying to get pregnant, I was on Provera and Chlomid. I had a D&C and tubal in February, the D&C was to clean me out, so to speak, because my Dr knows when not on the pill I'm extremely irregular. I have an ongoing refillable prescription for Provera should I need it, but thankfully I haven't needed it since the D&C.

I guess I'm surprised that the Provera hasn't worked for you. I know WildChild has some suggestions regarding natural things to help start your period (WC where are you ). I'll see if I can find the posts. If anything, if the Provera didn't work, I'd be going back it.

    Hi LanaBear,

Im sorry i dont know ur name but it was very kind of you to reply. I did see the GP after taking provera tablets but the GP refused to interfere in that. He says he cant do any magic if im not getting my periods now. I was thinking abt changing my GP. I was trying to look for some natural remedies on the net abt how to get my periods started again. I'd be very grateful if you could get me some tips about this. The zoladex injection has put me in menopause state and created hormonal imbalance in my body. This is what i think. This is why my periods are not coming now. I have appointment with a gyne on 6 october until then i have to wait to know what is going to happen and meantime the hotflushes is eating me up. If anyone know how to relieve hotflushes ur suggestions are most welcomed. Thank you

I would definitely go in for a second opinion somewhere.

Research parsley tea and ginger tea. I believe they are both stimulants and have been used successfully when trying to induce a period.

Hi Sonia78! I was searching the net for the same answer. I am on the same boat as you and I was on zoladex for 6 months for treatment of endometriosis. One injection every four weeks. I'm waiting to have another laparoscopy done. In the meantime I'm waiting for my period to come. I never thought I'll be so happy to see it arrive.

Hot flushes are a pain! That's the only side affect I have with zoladex. Thank goodness I don't have them anymore.

Let me know when yours arrive and I will do the same Sonia.

Thank you angeldust and Lanabear for the kind replies. I will definitely try the ginger or parsley tea. If your periods restarted angeldust so maybe mine will come too as well. There is nothing worst than when ur health is bad. Unfortunately i have more concerns regarding gynecology. I posted in new thread in hope to get some answers to my questions

Hi, I am having exactly opposite problem..

I am 31 year old and I was having cyst near right ovary. It has been treated by surgery and now I am on Zoladex for last two months and my problem is it does not stop my periods. I experienced normal periods for last two months though I have been given two dose of Zoladex 3.6mg. Even I am not feeling any of the side effects of Zoladex. I’ve been to many forums and have found that many women have experienced few out of many side effect of Zoladex and their periods have stopped. Now I am curious and little bit worried that why my periods are not stopped as it is required after endo.-Surgery. Is my body non responsive to Zoladex does? So is it worth taking Zoladex 3.6mg dose? (I am to take one more does next month)

    Any advice please..
