I have PMDD and was on the oral contraceptive Yaz to treat my symptoms. Recently I have noticed the PMDD coming back into my life...two weeks ago i was sitting on my couch with a bottle of asprin and a bottle of wine to chase the asprin. The following day I drove 100 mph to work on city streets cutting off other drivers and swerving in and out of traffic. My life will not continue, i.e. suicide or prison, if I cannot get this under control.
I went to my p.c.p., also specializing in women's health, today and she said we could try Danazol. I have been researching the drug and the side effects sound rather depressing. I feel that the side effects would be well worth it if it kept me from killing myself or putting other people in harm but they would be life changing for me.
I have not come across any postings by women taking Danazol for PMDD and haven't heard much about the androgenic side effects which worry me the most.
If anyone has had first hand experience with this drug and treatment of PMDD please let me know how it worked out for you.
