I kind of figure that I will have the whole kit and caboodle considering I have never had any sort of pelvic exam or pap smear done ever. So I don't know if things are normal or not because I've never had it checked out. But truly, thanks for the reply....I appreciate it.

I don't think that I have ever been so relieved to start my period. I have my appointment next Wednesday and I just started my period today. Which gives me enough time to get over it before seeing the doctor. I was getting nervous that I would have to re-schedule. And having practically begged for this appointment, I would have been disappointed if I couldn't go.

I am getting a bit nervous about going now. It is so weird. I shouldn't be nervous at all - since I am seriously considering going into OB/GYN myself, but nevertheless, I have been having strange dreams about going to the gynecologist. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Well, tomorrow is the big day. The day every girl dreams of! Ah yes, the gynaecologist appoinment is tomorrow. I thought that I would be more nervous since this is completely a new experience for me. I have read many articles and such, but it isn't the same as actually going. I am confident that the physician and nurses will display the utmost professionalism. In all reality, I am not too terrified of the actual experience compared to wanting to know what is going on and if I need something done to fix the presenting problem. But, I guess there is no real benefit to worrying about it because what will be, will be. At least I am seeing the proper physician tomorrow to ensure that all's 'kosher'.

We'll see how 'not nervous' I am tomorrow ! haha

Good luck for tomorrow cutedoctor! I'm sure you'll be fine. I understand how you feel though, I've had countless pelvic exams but next week I've got to have a vulva biopsy and I'm jittery about it already!!

Well, I survived.

I am happy I went and got things all cleared up. It ended up that I didn't need a full examination, so to speak, since I am not sexually active. She just took a look manually then with a small speculum. It ends up that I have, most likely, a urethral diverticulum and as long as it doesn't cause continual UTIs or other problems I can just leave it alone. She said that if I had children in the future, they would fix it when I deliver.


This is great news that I don't have some cyst of unknown nature and can continue on my normal life knowing that if I continue to feel well that all is alright.

I think that this is a great lesson learned for me. Even though I was not in pain and it turned out to be a minor abnormality, I still made sure to get it checked out by the proper physicians. I think that it is a shame that society puts such a taboo on getting a pevlic exam. It is also a shame that so many women don't get things checked out when they are wondering if something is or is not normal. If you have a question and are wondering about something, by all means go to the doctor. That is their job; and they don't think anything of examining you. Honestly they are (hopefully all) out there for your health. Take charge and be proactive. Who knows, one day it could save your life!
