I am 46. I have had annual pap smears since I was 20 but have never been to a gynocologist and only had my first digital pelvic exam 2 weeks ago. This week I have to have a pelvic and Transvaginal ultrasound.
I have been told I must have a full bladder for the procedure.
I have a weak bladder and am very embarrassed and frightened that I will urinate on the sonographer during the procedure. I am also embarrassed about blood , as I have been menstruating for 3 weeks now. Finally, I have always hated my intimate smell and am horrified that someone will be poking around down there for 40 minutes.
I have googled pelvic ultrasound so I now know clinically what to expect, but it hasn't helped me with the worry about wetting myself or the embarrassment in general.
Please give me some advice about what to expect and how to cope if I do wet myself. I am afraid I sound like a lunatic about this but it is keeping me awake and making me nauseous.
