Hello everyone
8 months ago I posted a thread ("Nervous About My Ovary" in the Cancer section, read for more info.) about how all of a sudden a large cyst was found on my ovary. The cyst has since disappeared and two ultrasounds have passed, one in July and one just a couple weeks ago, have showed no signs of cysts.
That's good and everything, but the pain hasn't stopped. It's gotten worse. I went back to the doctor after the last ultrasound (12 days ago) and she came up with the possibility that it is endometriosis and I would need a laparoscopy surgery. She had mentioned this to me briefly in the summer, but the gynecologist told me I was just sensitive from having the cyst. In my last visit to my family doctor I got switched to a stronger birth control pill which completely through me out of whack and two days ago I went in to the duty doctor with severe cramping and on an emotional roller coaster demanding she give me something more than these "torture pills", as I called them at the time. She switched me to the Nuva Ring and also told me about the possibility of endometriosis because it apparently doesn't show in ultrasounds. In a week, I go back to the same gynecologist to see what she has to say about this. After looking into this and having my friend explain to me what her sister went through when she had endometriosis, I feel pretty confident that this is what I have. My periods are absolutely miserable and I dread that time of month (which, in recent months, has decided to happen twice a month).
I'm 19 years old and the doctor I saw two days ago said this can affect my fertility, NOT what I want to hear at this age! What I want to know is has anyone else gone through this?? I am flat out tired of this stupid thing! What should I expect in the surgery, if it even happens? Is there anything besides pills that can help ease the pain a little? Does anyone know how much it can affect my fertility at this age and having it for 8 months (that I know of)?
Well I am 23 yrs old and have the same problem. I am going for a laparoscopy surgery in March. I finally got my date booked after 3 years of waiting...All I know is that if it is endimitriosis is that their is way to cure it for a little time and to get pregnant with it too.... I wouldn't worry about it too much right now since we are young but please do go see a gyno to check it out....
