    Default HPV question

About a year ago I was diagnosed with HPV high level. I had the LEEP procedure done which is a biopsy of the affected area. I was scheduled for another pap smear a month ago. I went back for the results and I still have HPV, it hasnt faded yet but it is low level. I dont have any warts or anything, its more pre cancerous cells.

My question is.. If I have sex with my boyfriend (which Ive never been with) Will he catch HPV from me? And if he does will we continue to swap it back and forth? How does this work? I havent slept with him because Im concerned. Please if anyone knows...

    Hi there

I actually have the same exact problem as you except it has been about 21 months now that I have had HPV. I actually went back to the gynecologist about two months ago and asked all the questions. I wrote them down so I would suggest next time you do the same. Now I also found out on my last visit that I had pre cancerous cells. First it was constant discharge, then warts, and now pre cancerous cells. I was told to be coming back every three months instead of six for all the test and procedures I might have to go thru. ( you should be doing the same) Now I did ask my gynecologist about the same question you had. I have been with my partner over a year now, and yet we never had intercourse. I told this to him and he said I can infect him. Even tho you do not have warts you are the one who carries it inside and can easily be given to your partner. It is a risk you may have to take. Let your partner know that no matter what HPV is going to be with you for the rest of your life. You may get it in five, or ten years down the road but it will never leave your body. So if this is a life long partner and he is understanding of all of the things you are going thru then you and him can have a talk about this matter. Now if your partner gets infected then goes for treatments and then you two continue having intercourse eventually your body fluids exchange get used to the virus and you both are ok then. Now the leep procedure is most likely what they will do to me in March. I do not have no more break outs but the virus is still there even tho I haven't had warts in about six weeks.

    Write back if you can.
    Hope I helped a bit.
And remember make an appointment every three moths. My gynecologist even sent me a letter to keep in mind once you are in the pre cancerous stage you HAVE TO be checked more frequently due to sudden changes (not every six months like the internet says).
Be very open with your gynecologist might as well since this is someone you will be going to for a very long time. Write your questions in advance and ask openly!!

    Kathy,
