hi...kinda new to this...need advice...i had an abortion a year & a half ago. immediately after that i went to my follow up exam & told her that i thought that i smelled different down there. i thought that it would go away but it hasnt. i shower everyday but after a few hrs when i go pee i can smell the odor & sometimes by the next day when its time for me to shower it smells like a fish filet. sorry to be graphic. i've had a bv infection in the past & i dont think thats what it is. i have also gained weight since my abortion. does anyone have any ideas what this might be?

also when i have sex with my boyfriend there is a white fluid on his penis...but i had this problem for while. any help would be appreciated!!!

It seems strange that the smell changed after the abortion. I know that my smell changes with my hormones, depending on what time of the month it is. Did you do anything else different since the abortion, e.g. did you start taking the pill, or change the type/brand of pill you were using? If so, this may also contribute to your weight gain.

Perhaps you could have a chat with your doctor about trying a different type of pill, since there may be another type that works better with your body.

I don't know much about vaginal ph, but I looked it up and saw there's a product called Balance Activ that supposedly helps to correct it. The website says it contains "lactic acid, which immediately neutralises the embarrassing odour by restoring the normal pH of the vagina. It also contains glycogen, which provides nutrients for lactic acid bacteria. With normal pH and nutrients, the protective lactic acid bacteria grow and the natural vaginal balance is restored, effectively relieving abnormal discharge and discomfort and stopping the embarrassing odour returning."

First of all, I've never used that product or any other products, of which there are probably several you could choose between, so I can't say if they'd work or if they'd be right for your situation. Secondly, I wonder if it's just the same as when women use natural yogurt? Perhaps look through the site to see what others have used to correct any ph/bacterial imbalances.

That's about all I can think of to suggest, hopefully someone more knowledgeable can add something else. You could always go to a gyneacologist to get more specialised help. Good luck!

Not sure whether this fluid is coming from you or him, but it concerns me that you and he might have and STD. Been tested recently?
