    Default Worried... Is this normal?

Okay, so basically... I'm extremely embarrassed and worried.
I'm sexually active and young, but legal.

I haven't messed around in a long time due to a extremely long period from my BC.
Well the other day, while messing around with a toy(ah, everyone has them right?) which was a g-spot toy(so it had a bolb at the end) I noticed that it was almost painfully hard to get it in, like there was something stopping it. As I got wetter it was fine, it hurt a little bit and burned slightly. But this really worried me. I've never really "explored" my body. I noticed at the entrance of my vaginal canal there's like... This, I don't know... Skin? Like a bump, but er maybe more of a tab... It doesn't hurt at all(but it almost seemed like at first it was stopping it). But what really bothers me is, I noticed that when I slid my fingers inside myself and would breathe in, push or cough my top vagina wall(front, roof... whatever it's called) would push down. I didn't know if this was normal, I googled it... And all I came up with was prolepses. But, It's not like there's a constant bulge in my vagina, it simply pushes out or bulges(I don't know quite how to explain it) when I push, cough or breathe in. Is this normal? I also tried to find my cervix... I don't know if this is also something to be worried about, but... I felt a round disc type thing on the far back top of my vagina wall. It felt firm, I wasn't for sure if this was my cervix or not. I suppose I kind've thought it'd poke out? But it just felt like... a firm part of my vagina... like a disc. I'm really horrible about explaining this, but I'm just noticing things I've never really took the time to explore and I'm extremely worried. I can't go to the gyno yet, and I'm over here paranoid and freaking out. Everytime I try to find something to explain it, it only comes up with prolapses and that has me freaked out! like I said, it only bulges/pushes out when i breathe in, cough or push... Then it pretty much goes right back up. So, basically... is this normal?

    Hi anii,

Why can't you go to a gyno? Do you have a family doctor you can go to?
I think it would be best for you to have a pap done - the doc will test everything and you can talk to her to get a better idea of what is going on.

I've had similar - once in a while on the side I will get a bulge or lump type thing ... but I have a history of cysts (I ignore them and they usually recede - I had one burst once and it hurt quite a bit for a little while then I was fine. Doc said there is nothing really to worry about with them). If it is a skin tab (which I've also had) you will definitely want to see the doc - have her check if it is something more than just a tag, and if so, she can treat it, and if not, then it's an easy (though slightly painful - I kicked the wall!) procedure to burn it off (like a wart).

When you were sexually active - did you use protection? You may want to get tested for std's and the like. Just to be on the safe side!

I do think you should see someone to put your mind at reast but when you cough you push the pelvic floor down so the bladder comes down with it a bit and that would create the slight bulge you are feeling but it shouldn't hurt. Your cervix feels alot like the tip of your nose and would be high up in the vagina so the firm bit you are feeling up there will be your cervix. As for the skin tag, it could be a remnant from your hymen but again shouldn't hurt so it is better to go and get checked out.

BellaGal - Thanks for your response. I can't go to the gyno because I cant afford it for a few weeks. Also, this is something that moves... Like when I breathe in, push or cough. It goes right back to its normal place.

Also, Id on't mean like a skin tab like one gets on their arm or anything like that. It's bigger than that I'd thing. It doesn't hurt what so ever, and when I push down I can feel my bone underneath it. But the problem is, I just can't remember if it's always been there LOL and I'm far too embarrassed to ask my boyfriend, because it's like... Well , I don't know my own vagina! it makes me feel so stupid.

I've been tested as well as my boyfriend, though when I go in to get my next pap I plan on getting tested again. I felt a few small bumps on my vaginal wall, but I read that was normal. They don't hurt or anything.

Sarah - Thank you as well for your response. That makes since! no it doesn't hurt at all, not even when i press on it when it's pushed out. I meant, during sexual activities... The reason I started investigating is because, when I tried to slide the toy(ah so embarrassed) inside(it had a bolb on the end) it kind've hurt, and it was almost like it couldn't go in. like there was something stopping it. But once I got wetter, it eased up. But i was kind've burning a little bit. But then again, I was for sure if it was due to the fact that... toys kind've hurt me in general unless I'm extremely wet, or if it was because it's been months since I've done anything due to my period lasting forever. So I wasn't as worried about that, I was kind've worried because it felt like there was something blocking it. but once i was wet enough and it eventually went in, i figured I shouldn't be that worried.

As for the cervix, it did feel pretty firm like cartilage, but like I said... I suppose I always assumed it'd kind of poke out? and I was able to reach it with my fingers at the right angle, it was on my upper wall i believe in the far back. So I just wasn't for sure if I was feeling that or something else. because it was like just a round i think disc inside. ah i don't know how to explain it.

And the skin bit doesn't hurt at all, i thought maybe it's what was blocking me from sliding the toy inside, but i mean... it's not extremely long. It doesn't hurt though, i can press it and i don't feel a thing but my bone underneath it.

I just freak out about these things, and was wanting to know if it was normal or when i go to the doctor if she's going to look inside and find something crazy going on LOL I like to be prepared i suppose. plus it really worried me.

Actually, I tried feeling my cervix again. And it did kind've stick out a little bit, I can't explain it(if this is even it) I can't reach any further my fingers are too short. But it's in the back, kind've upwards. i'd say ah i'unno i still say the top wall. but it's far in the back. It feels firm like you described, but i noticed i could move it a little bit. liek the tip of it. not move like i could jiggle it around, but it did move a little.

Also, I was wondering... If you have a tilted pelvis would that cause your cervix to be in a odd position? or like, ina different position in general?

Ok so for the toy issue I think we've established you need some lube!! Those toys are very dry and the material they make them from can drag on the skin which can cause some burning afterwards so just make sure you put lube on it and that should solve that problem.

When you say tilted pelvis what do you mean exactly? Do you mean one side is higher than the other or the whole thing has tilted forwards or backwards? It can make a slight difference to the interior of the pelvis if something's off with your alignment because the pelvic floor is involved but where you're feeling for your cervix sounds right (just out of reach is normal) and it moving slightly is also fine and it feeling firm is completely normal.

On the anterior wall of the vagina you would feel the urethra meatus which is a fleshy lump that surrounds the urethral opening and feels kind of rough so if that's what you're feeling there it's completely normal. If it's just a bit of pain from using a toy when you were a bit dry just try the lube and see if that helps. You sound pretty normal from where I'm sitting!

I'm not for sure, my gyno just told me my pelvis was tilted and it's normal. that it'd even out during pregnancy. it feels like it's side ways or something though (my cervix) i can't explain it lol it doesn't feel as pictures look at all(i actually found a site that had real pictures of cervix...which...was...odd. but it didn't feel ANYTHING as it seems to look.) it almost felt like it was sideways, i don't even know lol. never touched it before.

Well, It isn't near my uretha least i don't think it is. It's right at the entrace of my vagina, pratically in it. i can feel a firm type of...er i don't want to say vein cause it isn't a vein, but it's like something firm and it goes into my anteroir wall and then everthing's smooth again.

ah i hope i am, lol i'm totally dreding my next gyno appt i'm terrified she'll find something wrong with me. i'm just too paranoid for my own good.
