Thread: Very worried about ultrasound scan

Hello everyone,

I had an ultrasound scan this afternoon to make sure the IUD had completely fallen out. Which she found on sign of it in the scan However, i had a 2.5mm cyst or follicle on my right ovary. I have had cysts picked up on every scan i have had. Is that normal? Secondly, there was a large shadow, she did an internal scan to try and get rid of it but it didn't work. After pushing and pressing on my stomach she gave up. What could this shadow be? Then ever though she tried her best she could not find my left ovary. Its always been there on every other scan i have had done ( i have had so many since the age of 16, I am now 28) I have a history of pain and heavy bleeding. Had a biopsy taken of my lining end of Feb when they put the coil in. Since the scan i have had a lot of strong period pains.

Could anyone advise me on these issues or at least someone put my mind at rest. They said results would not get the the gp for 10 days so its 10 days of worry.

I don't know about the shadow but ovarian cysts appearing regularly are quite a common finding and as long as they vanish on their own not a problem.
