    Unhappy PCOS

Okay Ladies here's the deal. I believe I have PCOS.
For a few months up until late Feb 2010, i had lots of dizziness, disorientation, high blood pressure, nausea, constipated, random vomiting and pains in my stomache and pain in my right side of my abdomen. Hair loss on scalp but hair gain everywhere else, dry skin and scalp, alot of acne break outs.
So thinking it was my Loestrin 24 Birth Control Pills I stopped taking them....a week or so later after the period you get when u stop taking it..I woke up doubled over, vomiting. Went to emergency room, thought it was my appendix, turned out I had a 4 1.2 cm cyst on my right ovary (the ER doc said it was growing for awhile, another doctor said it wasn't)..a few days later had an ultrasound and it was down to 2 cm but I also had other cysts, all looked to be going away. Took a week to feel better, everything went away and i felt wonderful. Started taking my birth control pills and started having those symptoms all over, then had another pain and dizziness to wear i was laying on the floor for 2 days but not as bad as the first. Stopped taking the birth control pills and had another period, stopped, spotted, stopped for two days. Went for a 2nd opionion (that night i started my bc pills again and have stayed on them but i did have a period from that day, April 1st to April 7) the doctor told me to continue taking BC pills, that the dizziness and stomache aches had nothing to do with the cysts and it looks like whenever I get off the pills I will have cysts like the first one that sent me to the er. I want to try to get pregnate in a few months and he told me to stop taking the pills and take prenatal vitamins....uhmmmm what? Won't I be having the pain and everything? Doesn't the cyst's stop fertility? I asked these and he dismissed me! I have looked PCOS and i have just about every symptom.
Now I'm having the dizziness, disoritenation, heart racing, (Which is causing me to panic attacks, cuz im scared and really i'm scared to go out!), constipation, acne is back again, nausea dry skin, pains in my sides, crampy feelings, weight gain and loss and i can only eat once a day now. I think i felt better without the pills even when it took me a week to recover from the cysts.
What I'm wondering if all this is normal for PCOS? Should I try another bc? I was on Depo for a long time but had to get off it, onto pills because i had severe pain during sex and masturbation. I want a normal life!
I hope you all can understand what im saying. Could I have PCOS since i have just about every symptom? Could my dizziness and disorientation be caused by high blood pressured in turn caused by another cyst which could be cuasing the constipation and not eating and nausea? What should I do? THANKS!

From what I can gather your symptoms seem to be related to your birth control pill. I think I'd be inclined to try a different one. As for PCOS and fertility, it can make it harder but I've got several friends with the condition and children so it's not a given! The cyst you mention that was 4 and a half cm is quite large (I had one that was 5cm and it was considered pretty big) but it shouldn't be causing all your other symptoms, especially as it started to resolve quickly. I think I'd also ask for a thyroid test too, alot of the symptoms you describe can be due to a thyroid problem.

I was thinking the same thing but no it's ovarian cysts and i do get alot of them. I didn't start having these symptoms till i got off the depo and onto different bc pills, but i am still going to see about switching bc when i go to a pelvic pain clinc soon. I had a thyroid test done before and they said it came back normal.
Had another episode i guess today, felt the same but this time it was like my sugar dropped really fast and really bad. vomiting, shakiness, and felt like my skin was crawling...ick!

Um i had the alot of the symptoms except scalp hair loss and whatnot. But honey,i was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 14.I had to have a HUGE cyst removed and ive been put on birth control ever since.Im 16 now,and still i worry about it.I do believe you have it,as sad as it is.BUT,good thing for us is that birth control keeps the cysts from coming back.Yes you do need to keep on the birth control unless your trying for a baby. Its only protecting yourself from getting a cyst. The dizzyness and stomach aches are from the type of birth control you are on.I was on Nicon(spelling) for a year and it made me SOOOOOO sick.I was put on a new kind that i started 4 days ago.Ask your doc about changing the bc prescription. High blood pressure for me was when i had a cyst, but i didnt know it was there.Just if you get the pains in your side that shoot down ur leg,go get checked out as soon as possible okay? Dont let it wait. Best of luck sweetheart.

*Whew* that is good to know! Like I said we so want to start trying in a few months :-)
I will definetley be asking them that. Do you or will the doctors recommend one that stops periods like the seasonique until the 3rd month or just one that will let you have one every month?
Thanks for yours and Sarah001 response :-)

Grr will this stuff not stop??
Woke up in the middle of the night felt dizzy, kinda shaky like my skin was crawling. Then went to the bathroom (yay was actually able to go yesterday and today) and im bleeding....wth??? I haven't missed any bc pills. I'm nauseous still, pain off and on on both sides of my abdomen and feels like pressure in my stomache. Idk what to do, i don't want to go to the emergency room. It's very depressing and making me wonder..whats the point?
I don't know if it's a misscarriage (probley not since its not severe pain and not alot of blood but normal begining of period blood), if this is normal, hemoragging. *sigh* :-'(

    **Updated**
I want to thank everyone for their help!
I went and got tested for PCOS Tuesday and got the results back today. NO PCOS! Good thing! I'm wondering if I will always have to worry about cysts when i get off bc or not though. VERY Dissapointed in my Gyno couldn't get a straight answer from him and I called them MONDAY about the bleeding and they never called back...Tuesday i went to a PCP (primary care physican) and he did the test. Switching my BC, I'm believeing alot of the symptoms are from that, and alot of women from forums online report same symptoms...gonna give that a try. Again thanks!
