I have been getting UTIs since I was in my 20s. (now 70 years of age). Through the years I have seen many urologists and OBGYNs. My culture always comes back positive and Cipro seems to be the only antiobiotic to relieve the infection. I recently saw a new Urologist. He thinks I may have IC. He did 8 Parsons installations in Jan. & put me on Elmiron 3xs a day. I see no improvement whatsoever and have had 2 UTIs since January. 2 weeks ago I had a UTI, went for a culture and it showed bacteria present. My urologist put me on Penicillin 4xs a day for 10 days. I finished the penicillin 4 days ago and feel a UTI coming on again. I took a specimen to the lab this morning and put myself on Cipro immediately. I will see my Urologist next Monday. In Dec. I had a pelvic ultrasound and an abdominal scan and evrything came back negative. In the past I have been on a regimen of Macrobid to prevent UTIs - no improvement. I have also been on a regimen of Keflex - no improvement
