What are the symptoms? If you have the cottage cheese looking discharge that's usually a pretty good indication. you'd want to get that taken care of asap. It is a huge pain to have yeast and BV at the same time.

As for an update, I am on night 2 (of 10) of my boric acid 600mg suppositories. I see no improvement yet, though I don't expect to since I've had this problem for a year and a half.

All I have noticed is that my discharge seems to have taken on a more watery consistency. I've had a lot more of it. I'm hoping it's one of those 'it gets worse before it gets better' sort of things and it's just cleaning all the junk out.

Guess I'll know for sure in a bout a week *crosses fingers*

Think I spoke too soon. I have been experiencing some spotting....don't think that's normal. I'm going to stop doing the suppositories until I can contact my Dr.

I just got over my period a week and a half ago and I've never had that happen. I think maybe the boric acid is irritating me more than it is supposed to or something. Darn it!

I am so sorry to hear that, amelillo13! I know that hopeful-turns-discouraged feeling ALL too well and I feel your pain. I really hope your doctor has another plan of action to try out. Have you been seeing a regular doctor or have you moved on to a specialist?

I've been seeing a vulvovaginal specialist that works in a medical school clinic for the last 9 or so months. The mystery cases are apparently sent there. I've been to about 6 doctors in general though, most obgyns. They have tried every treatment under the sun for the last year and a half. Nothing works =/

also, I've been getting these black spongy specks whenever I urinate for the past like 2 weeks now. At first I thought it was old blood from my period since I usually have a dark brown/black discharge and these spots for 3-4 days after, but it's been longer than that and my discharge is white. They started out as small specks, but today they have been big enough to the point where I could fish them out to try and get a better look (gross I know). I thought it could be a kidney thing, but it is definitely coming from my vagina, not the urethra or anything. It's not in my pee it's just coming out with the discharge.

Is it normal to have old blood coming out for this long? It's really freaking me out. It's never lasted this long. Wondering if it has anything to do with me using a couple boric acid suppositories or something. My Dr. said 600mg for 10 nights once a night, but after day 3 I had to stop because I became super irritated.

This is very true. I am sure I have been over medicated because none of my tests come back with anything wrong, even though there clearly is, so all of these doctors kept treating it as what they thought it was even though the tests didn't necessarily confirm. It's frustrating because I keep seeing doctors and they keep trying to help me with all of these different treatments, but nothing works. I mean, it's gone on this long, but I still don't like the idea of stopping everything all together for an extended period of time. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, I guess.

I spoke with my doctor this morning. He wants me to stop everything entirely and reassess the situation (again) when I see him at the end of June. I just don't understand what is wrong with me, how it came out of no where and why it won't go away! _
